Awsome image, Bill, simple, concise, and says a lot with a limited palette (which is exactly what I'm working at for quite some time now).
But again, I think the white background define the photograph and anchors the composition much better than the black one. Though, I hate those green color titles. smile
Bill Phillips: Thanks Viktor. I couldn't make up my mind on the background and in the end went for black. I thought the black at the bottom running into the black background worked, but maybe....

Looks like Jesus slipped out the back for a quick smoke.

This is a very good B&W image IMHO. I think VZ might be correct about it being even better on a white background.
Bill Phillips: LOL! I was undecided on the background and went for black.
Bill, this mono series is very good, but this particular image is outstanding. Love the simplicity of it. I like it with the white background, too. (:o)
Bill Phillips: Three votes for white...looks like I chose wronggrin

Very powerful shot Bill, of just a simple cross and thorn head dress.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Tracy. What i want to know is why has nobody posted a picture of Astrid eating THAT sandwichgrin
Best so far Billy smile
Bill Phillips: Well thank you Nig!

I suppose it is a cross which will be carried during a procession (Holy week before Eastern)? I very like this pic- although I don't see a crucifixus I have to think of him and his suffering, the garland reminds of the crown of thorns- the pic is able to evoke some feeling like that in a very simple way- and the contrast of light and darker parts can support this impression! Very good, Bill!
Bill Phillips: Thanks Philine. I would think it is used for an Easter procession. It just struck me seeing it stuck in a corner like this.

One of your best Bill, when this opened I just stared and looked at all the details, you can be proud of this picture, this could be the cover of a book.
A book about being in the dark, but never give up hope for there is light at the end of the tunnel, keep faith, things will come as they come...take one step at the time and DON'T ever loose confidence.
Thank you Bill, this one is so soulful for me....yes I keep faith....I won't give up never.
Bill Phillips: I will send you a copy.

I love the simple composition of this Bill - it has bags of atmosphere. Naturally I prefer the black background! And I would have cropped out that annoying shape top left. A fine addition to your b/w series.
Bill Phillips: I thought you would! I hadn't noticed that on the top left!! Dammit!
I love this. It's perfect.

Put this picture with Ogden's B&W stained glass window and you have the perfect pair.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Sheila. "Ogden" will be pleased too tongue

Powerful symbolism to my Heathen eyes

Mono rocks here. Superb
Bill Phillips: I'm a heathen but I like churches! This just was there waiting to be photographed1
its all in the detail
Bill Phillips: What the devil? tongue
Very strong image Bill, the simplest of ingredients that we know say everything about the subject. I do agree with Ingrid about the top left corner though.
Bill Phillips: Can't believe I didn't notice it!
Very nice B&W series Bill. Quite a strong image with a great lighting. Well done!
Bill Phillips: Thanks very much Richard and welcome backsmile

Excellent Bill - very melancholic and one I would be proud to have taken.
Bill Phillips: Thank you Mike, you have made my daysmile
I love this one. is the cross off the wall lying on the floor some kind of symbol?
Bill Phillips: It is a cross that is probably used at Easter for a ceremony, so it is sort of a theatrical prop. Or maybe it is there waiting for someone to take it up?
and the bear does a stunner toosmile so simple yet so brilliant also, fabulous image Bill well done Sirsmile
Bill Phillips: Thank you kindly, Tim of the northsmile

Incredibly simple, and incredibly effective. I like this picture a lot.

Teeny question, could you crop to remove whatever it is at top left, or would it affect the balance of the image?
Bill Phillips: It could be removed, probably I would clone it out. I just didn't notice it.

don't sweat that little thingy in the corner, Bill. The cross and the window light are so powerful you hardly notice that little nuisance
Bill Phillips: Thanks viktor. I might get rid of it on the original one of these days.
