photoblog image Cheltenham

Cheltenham

I posted this originally in 2017 so I thought I would have another look at it. I have altered the crop and sharpened it a little and warmed up the light

For comparison here is the oiginal

You seem to be going for bigger garden ornaments these days, Bill!
Bill Phillips: You have to think big Ray!

Yes I think I prefer this picture

These Schools class were used in the south east, the cabs were angled to work through tunnels on the Hastings line. Then after electrification some came west; I remember being very excited at Salisbury in the early 1960s seeing them used on local stopping services..
Bill Phillips: Thank you.
I don't think they ever came as far as Exeter although I could be wrong, but I never saw one. They are very handsome locomotives

What a different sight - I like this image more than the original one.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Philine. I was quite pleased with this result

This has a more natural feeling I like the inclusion of more the surroundings. It's a very attractive locomotive. I believe the railway resumes operations from tomorrow.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Alan. I think the heritage lines are gradually reopening. The Watercress line is very agreeable

I prefer the old un. But it takes all sorts Bill. I think there is too much green in the atmosphere here.
Bill Phillips: An interesting observation Chad. Here adjustments have been made to the temperature of the picture and the luminance of certain colours, especially the green in an attempt to create the feeling of the Loco basking in warm evening sunshine.
I think I'm due for reprocessing, is there an app out there?
Bill Phillips: If there is and you find it Martin...let me know!
I like both pictures, this has a different feel to it then the earlier one. I only saw a few of this class, not living by the Southern, but this was 30925 which I didn't see but I did see 30926, Repton, which has also been preserved. (data from my Ian Allen ABC Combined Volume of 1958 which is in the bookcase next to my desk.)
Bill Phillips: I gave the copy of the combined volume that I had to my great nephew at my brother's funeral. It was actually my brother's copy. Mine had been lost in the mists of time and somehow I got his.

I think I prefer the original, Bill.

always love track and/or train captures
Bill Phillips: Thanks Sherri. Warming the light really changes an image
