Elderly

As of today I am officially elderly as I have reached the age of 70. I thought an antique sepia treatment was, therefore, appropriate.

it is very striking and yes, the treatment is appropriate.

my father-in-law is 94. 70? eh, not so much in comparison : - )
Bill Phillips: That makes me feel like a youngster Sherri grin
Ha! Well I've seen you look happier!!!
I hope you have a Super Seventieth, my friend!
Bill Phillips: I wanted to add a certain gravitas to the occasion E . We will hopefully see the family at a safe distance later if it doesn't rain!

You will never be "elderly", Bill, not with your sense of fun and joie de vivre. Many Happy Returns!

Bill Phillips: It will be better when we can give the grandchildren a hug!

70 is the new 50, Bill.
"Elderly"... "Young at heart" that is what counts Bill.

Oh, Bill, your diet was very successful - but today you are allowed to enjoy a cream tea -Happy Birthday to you!
Bill Phillips: I have slipped a bit on the diet front...too many glasses of wine I suspect is the main reason, but today I have a beautiful fruit cake to look forward to that Ange has made.

You are formerly enrolled in the “Old Codgers” clique...
you have been desperately banging on the door of the institution for far too long. Congratulations on your achievements... Now behave. Have a great and fun Day Bill.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Richard. I shall enjoy the day

In my English lessons I learnt there is a big difference between 'elderly' and 'old'- and some dear persons, esp. ladies, remain always 'elderly' even if they are ninety or hundred year 'old'.
Bill Phillips: It is a polite way of saying old. I don't feel old and I don't intend to act old grin

Many happy returns of the day Bill. Seventy is nothing, just keep healthy. You look as if you’ve lost weight.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Chad. I have but confess to have putting a bit back on during lockdown...must be the wine

Way too solemn a picture. One is tempted to write "condolences". Instead - here is to a happy birthday and may this picture be replaced by a smiling Bill before the end of the day.

According to our newspapers, you join the codgers' club at age 60. In their sensationalist endeavour, the will report: The elderly John Smith (61) was robbed at gunpoint when he exited the gym.
Bill Phillips: I was trying to show a little gravitas but ended up looking a miserable old sod....I am not good at switching on a smile grin . People were elderly in Victorian novels at 60.
Brighten up young man, it's not all that bad being 70, we hope you have a good day, I can't imagine you staying down in the dumps for long.
Bill Phillips: I was trying to look dignified gringringrin Having a nice day. Seen the family and eaten cake....what more could I want?
many happy returns of the day, Bill - i love the twinkle in your eyes.
Bill Phillips: Thank you Ayush.
I shall be that sad too when I'm that old! Many happy returns and good luck on blowing out that many candles.
Bill Phillips: Hahaha we didn't bother with candles. Actually I have had a lovely day and managed to see the family and that made the day...that and the wonderful fruit cake Ange made
Happy birthday Bill! Many happy returns smile
Bill Phillips: Thanks Martin. I have had a very enjoyable day

Cheer up, Bill, being 70 is not too bad. It's much like being 40 really but just saying "Ooohh... aaaah.." every time time you sit down or get up.
Bill Phillips: I was only 69 yesterday. It is the getting up that gives me away grin
Happy Happy 70th Birthday Bill...

you look very distinctive in this portrait... therefore the antique sepia treatment suites the occasion....petersmile
Bill Phillips: Thank you Peter...I was trying to look like the serious person I really am...........
The camera never lies. (But sometimes it can't make up it's mind between dignified elderly gentlemen or miserable looking old buggers!) Belated many happy returns.
