I dunno which looks more fearsome, the bee or the flower..
Bill Phillips: The bee was small and non threatening
Good catch, indeed, Bill. Gotta love the colors.

Great catch here, Bill. This looks very "spiky" I hope the bee does not hurt him/herself.... Great colours.
Bill Phillips: Haha The bee seemed quite untroubled Astrid

You have many sorts of plants in your garden - a fine image!
Bill Phillips: A fair variety but not enough of any one sort really

It all looks to be a rather precarious landing stage for the bee but I'm sure it copes. A pretty colour to the flowery thing, too.
Bill Phillips: The allium is a member of the same family as the onion leek and garlic. .....I'm really getting into this plant and gardening lark now
part of a BEE collection?

never seen an Allium before
definitely up close

the contrast of the close up in focus with the softness of the background

seeing your close-up photos keep motivating to learn how do take them with my Canon PowerShort.

Do you always use a tri-pod?

after carrying a tri-pod with me for 100+ days in the Summer of 1977 I have rarely used any of the 3 I have purchased over time.
Bill Phillips: I like Alliums and bees! This wasn't taken using a tripod although the one on the foxglove was. On the foxglove one I prefocused on the flower and used a cable release to minimise any movement. I think I will start using a tripod more as it is essential for focus stacking and I would like to try that on landscapes. Hitherto I have seldom used one.
