photoblog image Droitwich !

Droitwich !

I blame Tom Wilson. He keeps posting pictures taken with the Samyang 8mm lens. Well I am easily led and I finally found a decent second hand one at a good price.

So here are some snaps taken with it

Fascinating - but what a lonely street!
Bill Phillips: It is the main road out of town and I had to wait for the traffic to go!
Well, then! Have some competitive fun with Tom and let us all enjoy it!
Bill Phillips: No competition Ginnie just a new toy to play with

I think you have much fun with this new toy and I like what you do with it, Bill. I would say, money well spend!!!! smile
Bill Phillips: It is possible to take pictures not as obviously curved as this and it is also fun to make everything curved!

Oh ah...now we're in for an eternity of curved views then
Bill Phillips: There will be several more. Actually the one tomorrow is the pick of the bunch as far as I am concerned

I've got the same lens. too; I don't use it often, though. I must get out more.
Bill Phillips: I don't think I will use it a huge amount but I will keep it on the X-E2 body I have to use when the mood takes me

You might be easily led Bill, but you never follow me...wisely. There is something I like about this.
Bill Phillips: I could never follow you Chad. Your style is unique and inimitable
Bit wide for my taste.
Bill Phillips: It is a bit of fun and the results can be quite pleasing. I have put it on the X-E2 body I had from you and will leave it on there for when I want to the more of these!

That car is going straight round the curve smile

These lenses have their uses - one of them is to get you to depart from the straight and narrow.

I like what you have done with it.
Bill Phillips: It is something different. Sometimes the effect works and sometimes it doesn't!
excellent! looking forward to some more, Bill. i have a 10mm and at times it almost makes me feel invincible in some ways (not sure if you know what i refer to).
Bill Phillips: I used to have the Sigma 10-20 zoom on my Pentax and it was the lens I used most. This 8mm takes it a stage more but the 10mm didn't distort as much. I don't think I understand the invincible!
I really like this, I've never had a wide lens like this. Come 3rd.June you'll be able to stand at your front window and take pictures with this lens of the house across the road every day for several months!!
Bill Phillips: You could be right Brian! I might take loads of shots of my car and bore everyone to death

Fun photography ..but good for a while
Bill Phillips: Indeed, but it can also be used seriously once the novelty wears off of doing the curved stuff
I think PEI has as many roundabouts as England does. This gave me a laugh.
Bill Phillips: We love our roundabouts!
