From about 1949 I think. I think these came with a straight 6 engine. I love the wood and chrome dashboard

my memory of our earliest family car had something of a view like this, although it was all painted metal and some plastics, no chrome nor wood. and also it was on the other side. i like your angle and the dof.
Bill Phillips: I think the wood here is plastic Ayush!
The interior of lots of American cars really are something special, Bill.
Bill Phillips: It is like driving a Jukebox
Yes - it's very appealing! I like your depth of field!

Someone was so proud when they first got behind this wheel, Bill
Bill Phillips: You can imagine it. I found a video of one on Youtube that someone had spent $20000 restoring and it looked wonderful

Proper knobs, too, albeit randomly placed. Too many modern cars have controls on the touchscreen now, meaning you generally have to take your eyes off the road rather than just reach out and touch something tactile.
Bill Phillips: I remember my dad had a jag years ago with a row if identical rocker switches on the dash.
Looks like a smooth operator, Bill!
Bill Phillips: Nothing nicer than a straight 6!

Those were the days that you got muscles by steering HA... great depth of field here. I am glad I never drove a car with the "shift gear thingy" was at the steering wheel.
Bill Phillips: My first car had a column gear change and I soon got used to it ...it was strange when I first drove a car with the gear lever on the floor!
Ces voitures étaient de vrais bijoux.
Bill Phillips: They were beautiful

a great close-up!
Bill Phillips: Thanks Philine. I was really enjoying myself that day. Traction Engines, old cars and old motorcycles!

All cars seem to have a steering wheel.
Bill Phillips: Some of the earlier ones had a tiller.I am not talking about the ladies who used to dance at the Palladium

That steering wheel gives away its age, looking very classy!
Bill Phillips: Looks good but you wouldn't want to collide with it!
Lots of flash in this motor, like you my first car had a column gear change and a bench seat in the front, no more said about smile
Bill Phillips: Mine had "bucket" seats. I found the column gear change OK but slow to change!
they don't build them better than this anymore Bill... the new ones are all plastic....petersmile
Bill Phillips: Built like a tank and probably drove like one!
I love the chrome and wood, too! smile

I am just glad that my car got me from Halesworth to Bury St Edmunds and back today ...A hundred mile round trip mainly in pouring rain.
Bill Phillips: The modern automobile is generally reliable

I like the HAD [horn activation device], Bill.
Bill Phillips: I remember when they were like that in most cars
