photoblog image Vauxhall Cresta

Vauxhall Cresta

The styling is very American and it came in some unbelievable two tone colours. Pink and white and I think there was lilac too. They rusted before your eyes but when I was a kid I thought they were beautiful!

Reflections make this fine image finer, Bill.
Bill Phillips: a reflection on the condition of this car Ray
It is very beautiful - it's even got those American fins!
Bill Phillips: We were more restrained over here grin

I remember seeing these cars about. They are not bad but, funnily, I never owned or fancied a Vauxhall.
Bill Phillips: My dad had several and I had a Vectra for a while. Kathryn has an old Astra that just seems to go on forever!

I remember when I first saw these rather swish looking Crestas. How this example has not been eaten away by rust is a very good question..
Bill Phillips: These and the victors and early Vivas were rustbuckets even by the standards of the 60s

I bet I did, too - I used to know all the cars when I was a young teenager
Bill Phillips: So did I but now they all look the same grin
That's one smooth operator, Bill, from the looks of it.
Bill Phillips: American in its' styling and in its' handling. Built to float along over long distances but not to go around bends grin

A wonderful classic, Bill We had once a Vauxhall... not like this though.
Bill Phillips: My dad had several and had an earlier version of the Cresta, actually the Velox which hd a 4 cylinder engine as opposed to the Cresta's 6.
At its time it was a great looking car, this one looks in fine condition.
Bill Phillips: Beautifully restored Brian
My uncle had a yellow Vauxhall Victor, 'til the rust arrived...This Cresta is a beauty Bill.
Bill Phillips: My mum had a yellow one too with a dark green roof!
Rust was the Vauxhall working material smile
Bill Phillips: This and the Mk1 Victor were probably the worst
All highly polished.......a great looking model, Bill. My father had a later model, the Viva smile
Bill Phillips: They used to rust too!
