Confederates. Interestingly there were quite a few confederate flags waving in the breeze. something that is not allowed much in the USA now I believe

Ils ont un air très sérieux. Les costumes sont tous différents.
Bill Phillips: They have indeed . I suspect the confederates were reduced to a bit of a rag tag army during the civil war

More fun than sitting at home a watching the football re-plays on TV.
Bill Phillips: True Ray....very true
It ought to be outlawed along with the swastika.
Bill Phillips: It is dangerous to try and airbrush history. Better , perhaps, to educate people to what these symbols actually stood for

I am inclined to imagine these re-enactors are dressed in an authentic manner. Actually it's nice to see people being serious about dressing up
Bill Phillips: I am sure that is the case Chris. It is also a great way of bringing history to life for children

I didn't know that, Bill
Bill Phillips: There seems to be a bit of a purge of things Confederate in the US. Understandable I guess but in its' own way perhaps trying to airbrush history

I was always a supporter of the Comfederates, but that was before I learned of the politics.
Bill Phillips: I think Hollywood fed us a diet of the South being the underdogs and making them more glamorous. None more so perhaps than Gone with the wind

They always have such attention to detail.
Bill Phillips: It is taken seriously but I get the impression they thoroughly enjoy themselves
This is a marvelous shot! I really like it. I think it is okay to fly the flag in reenactments like this but not in general.
Bill Phillips: I agree Mary.
Another very fine shot Bill, you certainly made the best of your opportunties that day.
Bill Phillips: Considering it poured down when we got there it was okay. If they do it next year I would like to spend a lot longer there
great shot/photo Bill... it's good to see them at attention... the man in the middle looks all spit and polish....petersmile
Bill Phillips: They do it all very conscientiously Peter
It's a great shot of them lined up Bill! They clearly take this very seriously smile
Bill Phillips: They do but they also enjoy it and enjoy taking to people about it
A fine line up, they don't mind taking the role of losers.
Bill Phillips: The Confederates always seemed more romantic but really they weren't
Oh dear me Bill, what happened to the French Maids. Now that's dressing up.
Bill Phillips: I imagine you must be speaking from experience Michael?

the man in the dark jacket is particularly convincing

the guy with the glasses made a terrific choice with his frames
Bill Phillips: There was quite a mix of "uniforms"
