Fizzy drink fans devoted to each of Coca-Cola’s low-cal brands can give you plenty of reasons why their beverage of choice is the tastiest, despite many people assuming it’s the same product packaged differently.

But they actually do taste different, with Coke Zero meant to taste like ‘Fat Coke’, and Diet Coke having a taste all of its own.

The key difference between the two drinks is a single chemical.

Coke Zero features sodium citrate in its ingredients list, and Diet Coke has citric acid.

Diet Coke was Coke’s first sugar free cola, which was launched in 1983.

This was followed by Coca-Cola Zero in 2006.Coke announced that they were phasing out Coke Zero to replace it with Coca-Cola No Sugar — a drink that took them five years to develop.
Bill Phillips: Despite all this it is undrinkable muck
