photoblog image Roche Abbey

Roche Abbey

This dates back to 2005 and I posted a b&w version in 2007 and said I would post a colour version but never did. OK Who said thank goodness???

Anyway I have cropped it a bit and had a bit of a twiddle and here, at last, it is. Brownie points to anyone who can be bothered to find the original

Oh I could put in a link

It is a fine image of an impressive ruin, Bill.
Bill Phillips: I am obliged to you

i love seeing this

you've composed it beautifully
Bill Phillips: Pleased you like it Sherri
Its a nice shot Bill...
Bill Phillips: Thanks Frank
Well this is really beautifully done! I see you decided to leave the fence! smile
Bill Phillips: Well why not? What has it ever done to me that I should obliterate it from history ?
Jolies ruines qui se détachent bien sur ce beau ciel.
Bill Phillips: The sky was very dramatic but I don't think it actually rained

Actually I think I prefer the b&w. But this is fine..
Bill Phillips: That's OK. It was just that I like to keep my promises

Oh, I never heard of this Abbey before - a very impressive building it must have been. I like your photo very much!
Bill Phillips: We stopped off here on our way up to Yorkshire I think

If it was me that said, “thank goodnes”, then I take it back, this is very good.
Bill Phillips: I sure you would never be so unkind Chad. Pleased you like this
My kind of castle. Looking very good.
Bill Phillips: It is an abbey Mary but I know what you mean
A fine image Bill, you didn't get rid of the fence then.
Bill Phillips: No it looks fine where it is Brian grin

I had to Google to see the location in this place; its in the Far North! Despite me using the M18 loads of times, I never knew this place existed nor that it is not a million miles from the Heaven is Homemade Tearoom - another place I've missed on my travels. If I'm overnighting in the area, perhaps I'll pay a visit but knowing my luck it will be closed.
Bill Phillips: I think it is open pretty well seven days a week Alan

Oh.. a fine snap by the way.
Bill Phillips: Ta!
you cropped the sky a bit from the b&w Bill but you forgot to get rid of the horrible fence... that would take a lot of twiddling....petersmile
Bill Phillips: Actually Photoshop would probably get rid of it quite easily Peter
I looked at the B&W, which has something of the flavour of a 19th century print; but I like this version best!
Bill Phillips: Thank you Tom. I think I do too

Stone me ...
Bill Phillips: Willingly comrade
Must have passed within a few miles of this dozens of times. I don't remember even seeing a sign from the A1.
Bill Phillips: It is at Maltby. We only knew about it because we were English heritage members at the time Graeme
