Mural

I posted a picture of the original mural in the Lido park some years ago. Over time it had become faded and mucky so a new one now fills the space. It shows many of the best known buildings in the town .....sadly some of which are no longer standing, but most are.

The artist is Rob Cowan and for more info follow the link

J'aime beaucoup cette fresque qui habille cette vilaine palissade.
Bill Phillips: It really catches the eye
A great idea, how boring this fence would be without the artwork Bill.
Bill Phillips: A grey expanse of concrete Frank
This is a great idea! Sad about the aging...
Bill Phillips: The nice thing is that this one is completely different to the first one.

I recall your previous picture of the mural, now a fine new one, but is the mural necessary, a construction area there?
Bill Phillips: No the fence is a concrete one and behind it are the gardens of houses in the adjacent road. The mural very much brightens up what would otherwise be a drab grey wall

I like this, it cheers the place up
Bill Phillips: The previous one was showing signs of age so I was pleased they decided to have a new one

That's quite a work, Bill
Bill Phillips: It is indeed. I really like it
What a great tribute to where you live, Bill!
Bill Phillips: I think it is great too Ginnie

This is great and I love this POV, Bill. I hope that maybe they can give some TLC to it. Thanks for the link.
Bill Phillips: The old one was there for quite a few years and I guess at some stage this one will also have to be replaced. Still that's no bad thing in a way

Many years ago at a school I was teaching we did a similar thing the kids chalked up a whole row of house fronts and filled them in with coloured chalks. The whole school was involved and parents ...and they all failed the eleven plus. So you can see how long ago the project was.
Bill Phillips: I'm not surprised. They should have been working

That is a wonderful display on an ugly type of wall.
Bill Phillips: I was very impressed and, as you know, I am not easily impressed.

Oh, so you can fit Droitwich (Salinae - heh, I learned something) on a wall. Not one of the panels shows rain - so the other Stooges are just needling you.

These concrete panels have gone out of fashion over here. They now use see through mesh fencing. Or, if a wall, then brick or simulated brick panels. Many old concrete panels were school decorated. Currently, when you have such panels along a busy road, the owner sells advertising space on it, for businesses in that area. Apparently, they make good money.

PS. I like the composition of your picture.
Bill Phillips: sal sapit omnia as we say in these parts. It is true that Chris has more rain in Bath. Decorating these has been a good idea
Although I'm not a great lover of wall art here it works very well on what would otherwise be an awful looking line of wall panels. I do hope the local idiots don't have a go at it as often happens these days.
Bill Phillips: The previous one was left largely unmolested Brian
Fluffy clouds all about. I am sure it never rains there.
Bill Phillips: Happily it dos rain but not to the degree suggested by certain parties
There are some fine looking homes depicted in this mural, Bill.
Bill Phillips: We still have some fine buildings but sadly some have been lost unnecessarily

Superb. So much nicer that just a plain concrete wall. Let's home the morons don't think that they can "improve" it.
Makes a great decoration for the wall smile
what an amazing mural Chad... credit to Rob Cowan and his friends....petersmile

Bill Phillips: It makes a fine addition to the park
