Not Fade Away

This looks very arty, overexposed like this!

Bob Blasi is a drummer who played with Bo Diddley, and credits him with personally teaching him to play that "Bo Diddley" beat... Bob is in the Arizona Blues Hall of Fame. We love to watch him (and whatever band he's backing) regularly in downtown Flagstaff! He's the nicest guy, and an incredible musician. Just a couple weeks ago he played and sang a knock out rendition of "Not Fade Away"
Bill Phillips: Oh wow! Bo Diddley had a very distinctive sound and hasn't, perhaps, had the recognition he deserves. Certainly not in the UK

A mangle...what fun!
Bill Phillips: I can remember my mother using one
i like the high contrast image, Bill. i imagine that device is a press of some kind?
Bill Phillips: It is a mangle Ayush. Used to squeeze the water out of washing before hanging it on the line

love, love the high contrast and what a unique old machine
Bill Phillips: It is a mangle Sherri. Used to squeeze the water out of the washing before you hung it on the line
A hint of times past is better than no past/hint at all, Bill. Wonderful.
Bill Phillips: Very true Ginnie smile

Well yer picture is certainly fading away into a blizzard of whiteness. It has been not so much twiddled as mangled..

Gedditt!!
Bill Phillips: Yes nd so will you if you come up with any more dreadful puns like this

I love the high contrast of that picture, Bill. My mom used a mangle too... I remember her getting a washing machine and and centrifuge next to each other in one machine.
That was about 60 years ago. https://www.onlineveilingmeester.nl/nl/veilingen/1162/kavels/119
Bill Phillips: My mother had a washing machine with a mangle attached and then advancing to a twin tub...it had the claimed no tangle washing action but actually tied all the washing in knots. Makes you realise how good modern machines are!

Reminds me of the film ‘The war game’. Love Bo’s guitar.
Bill Phillips: Never heard of it

So do I

An excess of bleach has really mangled this effort ....
I agree with Chad about the association with the “war game” film. I saw it in 1966
Bill Phillips: This is art matey.....wasted on you clearly

I was probably too busy in 1966 selling ice cream and watching the World Cup to worry about the end of the world
Love your image. Makes a building less boring.
Bill Phillips: and believe me this was a very boring building

Excellent. The picture I have up today, went through a number of trial conversions - among them something similar to what you have here. With my picture, it did not pass - but excellent in yours.
Bill Phillips: I really liked your picture today. You are right. I have used this treatment a number of times and often the result is not to my liking. This one worked for me but from the comments not for everyone.
Just a tad overdone on the left hand side smile but I like the old mangle, my Mum also had similar before upgrading to a more modern one. Good video, I believe I've still got a record of the Stones singing that song.
Bill Phillips: Quite deliberate Brian, but it all comes down to our preference. I wanted the whole thing to fade from right to left....but then I am left handed grin

Great processing! I remember the dolly tub at mangle at my Grandma's.
Bill Phillips: Washing was hard work in those days
good treatment Bill... but a bit washed out...
i used to dance to Bo Diddley when i was in high school... it was played by a local band....petersmile
Bill Phillips: Good job there is a mangle there to dry it out then Peter grin

Bo Diddley was a true original !
Surprised at the number of us old-timers commenting here who remember this appliance, Bill. Perfect treatment for this image.
Bill Phillips: At least we never had to use them!
words will be said on Wednesday.
Bill Phillips: Hahahahahahha
very dramatic with the high exposure
Bill Phillips: Pleased you like it Alan
