Paddington Station

These rather handsome looking Hitatchi locomotives hide a dark secret. The seats were not designed for human beings. It is not possible to feel comfortable. They are hard and you  cannot rest your head and back at the same time. The ancient carriages on the heritage railways are infinitely more comfortable.

Good B/W shot Bill. Hitachi t.v sets were badly designed too....smile
Bill Phillips: The are clearly carrying on in the same vein the Frank grin
Oh pretty cool, Bill!! Nice choice for B&W!
Bill Phillips: Thanks E. It worked for me
Joli toiture arrondie.
Bill Phillips: Yes indeed the roof at Paddington is a fine structure

What a great station and what a wonderful b&w photo - masterclass! - but I wonder about the unconfortable seats in the modern train! (I hope the Siemens trains which are built for London will be of a better quality.)
Bill Phillips: You would think that it would be as easy to design a comfortable seat as one which is uncomfortable. Perhaps the designers should be made to sit in them for a few hours.

Did you also notice how far back the hardrail is when you want to hoist yourself into the train?
Bill Phillips: Now that you mention it...

I once bought one of their record players.
Bill Phillips: Did the records fit on the turntable?

On the right I think I see Richard, getting off the train having just boarded to realise he’s at the wrong station.
Bill Phillips: I do believe you are right Chad. Poor old chap

One day I hope to be rich enough to travel on a train. If I was daft enough to take a route from Southampton to Bristol via Reading, it would cost £199. Hitachi are financing my bed mattress at 0% APR; it is very comfortable/
Bill Phillips: As I recall this trip only cost a few pounds. There are some good deals to be had but full price fares are way beyond my means

All good, but I especially like the reflections on the front carriage, Bill.
Bill Phillips: Thank you kindly Ray
It is a fine looking train as are many these days but it costs so much to travel from Loughborough to London and back these days (plus £12 to park) that it puts us off going.
Bill Phillips: I am an infrequent traveller but there are some good deals if you book well in advance

i love seeing this and the high contrast is fantastic
Bill Phillips: Thanks very much Sherri
The rot set in when they tried to copy the airline seating!
Bill Phillips: Tried being the operative word!
