Yes, I thought of Lawrence, too - this is a wonderful photograph looking like an abstract painting.

A Plane tree. I think they are called London Plane. By shedding their bark, as they do, they were never affected to London's air pollution. Happily now a thing of the past
Bill Phillips: I am not so sure the pollution is a thing of the past....you just can't see it now

The colours and textures are lovely in this. Bark is fine but I prefer Beethoven. (Yes, I know it should be "Bach"...)
Bill Phillips: You aren't Haydn your preference then?

The colours are simply wonderful in the simple shot.
