Bill Phillips: When my daughter Helen was having singing lessons her singing hero was Karen Carpenter. Most of the yowlers who can't hold a note to save their life but warble up and down would do well to listen to her sing

Cette antenne est insolite dans ce décor.
Bill Phillips: Il est certainement un très grand pour au-dessus d'un pub

I never heard the song before. And I think this is wishful thinking, those 'dishes' will be happy if they can catch some of the vibrations broadcasted from the BBC..
Great B&W.
Bill Phillips: Sky Sports probably Lady P

A close-up of the building shown this week, Bill?
Bill Phillips: Correct Lisl
Thank you for making me discover this song Bill! Fine capture.
Bill Phillips: I have always liked the Carpenters. I think this was one of their last big hits before her untimely death
Close your eyes and concentrate, Bill....and before you know it, you'll hear Lady Polder yelling to you something from the Netherlands! grin
Bill Phillips: Hang on I can hear something about bacon butties.....

No doubt you need these for all day sports on big screens to ruin what atmosphere the place has
Bill Phillips: Sad but true. Mind you even more pubs would go out of business without Sky and BT sport
A fine observation of modern loving Bill, go to the top of the class. Sorry about the vid but I could not get past Mr Irritating.
Bill Phillips: Not one of my favourite Carpenters tracks but I am a fan of Karen Carpenter who was a fine singer
Why do you select who to reply to?
Bill Phillips: They were online at the time and I didn't have much time at the time if you see what I mean at this time
I hope I get chosen.
Bill Phillips: So do I ....hope you get chosen
Karen Carpenter was a wonderful singer.
Bill Phillips: Agreed Mary. Her life was cut short so sadly

This is a great posting.

Re the Carpenters. Around 1976 I got engaged to my Dutch wife, who went back to the Netherlands for emigration reasons. Since communications were limited to phone (much more expensive than today) and snail mail - I listened to "Please Mister Postman" quite a lot smile
Bill Phillips: Great story Louis. Songs often bring back memories

I remember the Carpenters song. Is this on the former pub? If so, was it used for Sky Sports? If so, another reason I would not have gone in the place. I've got satellite TV but just Freesat. I pay enough for the rubbish on TV through my licence without paying a monthly charge as well.
Bill Phillips: It must have been. I have freesat which gives access to loads of rubbish without lining Murdoch's pockets.
TWO dishes?
Bill Phillips: Don't ask me Tom I know nothing about such things. I only have freesat because Kathryn had Sky when she lived here and left the dish behind
An odd collection of shapes...

It looks more like receiving than transmitting equipment, Bill...not that I would know...
Bill Phillips: I am sure you are right
