Paris? Non! C'est Brum
comments (19)
Good grief: Brum's gone all foreign!
Bill Phillips: Oui. C'est le Brum continental notre kid!
Paris! Lucky dog!
Like the black and white choice.
Bill Phillips: No not Paris....Birmingham England!
Nice shot Bill. This would not have been a bill board originally would it? It has such a lovely old look, but strangely reminds me of a public loo I went to in Cardiff.
Brum v's Paris Mmmmm let me think for a minute or two.
Bill Phillips: I am led to believe it is some sort of vent...I thought it was a loo. Brum v Paris no contest...Brum's got more canals than Venice!
Definitly Parisian influence ... but a cheap version ... sighs ah well! richard
Bill Phillips: N'est pas cheap. Cette thing probablement cost une fortune
I love Brum and I love Paris, Brum I saw through your eyes and this is a treat...I like the postcard-look.
Bill Phillips: Merci beaucoup mon ami Hollandise.
I think you and Mike got together on this one, Bill.
Bill Phillips: LOL! When Mike put his one of Paris on I dug this one out of the ones I didn't include in my Birmingham series. Yes I well remember these borders! I've got some in an old album somewhere too
It's a timeless photo, well done and I love the border too !!!
Bill Phillips: Thank you Ann..a taste of France in Birmingham?!
This one should give Blackdog a run for his money! I know Brum is much maligned but it is certainly trying hard. Good b/w shot.
Ingrid
Bill Phillips: Thanks Ingrid...don't think Mike has much to worry about. You are right There is now a lot in Brum that is good, I doubt there is a better concert hall for sound in the UK if not the world.
I don't believe you, Bill, this Paris.
Bill Phillips: Would I lie to you Chad? I don't even have a passport, how could it be Paris??
I have been to Paris but not Birmingham maybe my loss, like the street lamp
Bill Phillips: Most people who run Birmingham down have not been there in years. Like most big cities it has some awful parts but there are some beautiful parks and even some nice buildings!
Didn't know Birmingham had a French Quarter Bill, but I like this and especially the slight tone allied to the interesting border.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Brian.
This is a good postcard! It looks very inviting with those lovely tones. You could try fixing the perspective to make the verticals parallel.
Bill Phillips: Could have done but didn't. Lazy or what! Actually this was only posted as a bit of fun following Mike's (blackdog) Paris scene. Still no excuse, I have the tools to do it!
Paris in Brum. I like the idea Bill! Very nice 60's border here!
Bill Phillips: I don't think it will ever compete! Still there are far worse cities than Birmingham
Ooo la la c'est magnifique, non! J'aime beaucoup le nouveau Brum!
Bill Phillips: Merci mon ami. J'espère que vous n'êtes pas vert avec envie
like the composition and conversion Bill, maybe a job in the local brum tourist shop might be beckoning?
Bill Phillips: Actually I'm shortly starting a part time job with the National Trust! So the Brum tourist board will have to wait!
Hmm, Brum imitating Paris - I think people would notice
What is that round thing?
Bill Phillips: I wonder what the French for "Yo oright our kid" would be!
Apparently it is some sort of vent...so I'm told. I thought is was a loo!
I love this picture. Your framing is great as well
Bill Phillips: Thank you Kay. I remember when photos had borders like this.
OH! I thought that were a loo too.
Bill Phillips: I thought it was a loo and it is in Waterloo Street! But I was told it isn't so that spoiled the idea!
Like very much this picture and the border is funny too !
Bill Phillips: They used to do borders like this on photographs...I've got some somewhere!
