Lynmouth Harbour
After we dropped Helen and Andy off at their honeymoon cottage we popped into Lynmouth for a quick look. It was a damp grey day so I've twiddled. It is a beautiful part of North Devon and I will have to go back when it isn't freezing cold and wet!

Whenever I hear the name of Lynmouth I think of the story of their lifeboat.
I actually like the way you've processed this picture, it's unusual but nice.
Bill Phillips: I always think of the terrible floods in, I think, 1953. The process is a filter that Corel paint shop pro has. You can apply virtually any colour of filter at any density, so you can imagine what fun I have with that!
Love the processing on this.
Bill Phillips: It is a filter that Corel paint shop pro has. You can apply almost any colour of filter at any density, so you can imagine what fun I have with that! Glad you like it
A beautiful scene and you did a great job of the processing to make it even more interesting!
Bill Phillips: It is a filter that Corel paint shop pro has. You can apply almost any colour of filter at any density, so you can imagine what fun I have with that! Lynmouth is a beautiful place.
I like your color choices here. The warmth is enticing.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Jewlya. It is a filter that Corel paint shop pro has. You can apply almost any colour of filter at any density, so you can imagine what fun I have with that!
well twiddled
i think i'll likey this one
Bill Phillips: Thanks Doc...I'm honoured. I used a filter in Corel paint shop pro . You can apply almost any colour of filter at any density, so you can imagine what fun I had with that!
Bill this wonderful you have twiddled well
Bill Phillips: Thanks Vintage. (By the way I posted the one of Helen and Andy on the bridge yesterday if you want to see it)
Quite nice. The sepia conversion works well here
Bill Phillips: Thanks Stan. It is a filter that Corel paint shop pro has. You can apply almost any colour of filter at any density, and it produces some interesting results
When I think of Lynmouth I always recall the dreadful flash floods that destroyed the main street back in the 50's .... Too long ago for most of you bloggers. Lovely shot Bill... but the sepia is much too strong for me. richard
Bill Phillips: I come from the Westcountry and although I was only little I know about the floods as it is well remembered there and was often talked and written about. The effect is using a filter in Corel which allows you to use almost any colour at any density to the picture. I have another one lined up for the future of Knightshayes Court (the house not the one of the garden) which is completely different so I will be interested to see what you think of that.
this seems like a fleeting moment of magic, Bill. love what you've done
Bill Phillips: Thanks Terry. It's a filter in Corel. Applies almost any colour at any density...a twiddler's delight
Great twiddling as usual Bill. Love the processing too
Bill Phillips: Thanks Tracy, glad you like it
Nice shot Bill - what a lovely harbour. Bit too heavy on the brown for my liking!
Ingrid
Bill Phillips: Lynmouth is beautiful. Shame you don't like the twiddle but thanks for saying so
Has the look of a hand tinted photograph - perhaps would be even stronger without the sepia toning ie B&W. Strong photograph behind the twiddling!
Bill Phillips: I was trying for an element of hand tinting and I have a future picture which I think is closer to it. I just liked this when I'd twiddled, but I think a straight b&w would have been ok..I might do one
It is a romantic coastline and Lynton and Lynmouth are wonderful places. Who would have imagined that disaster would strike this idylic place so many years ago.
Bill Phillips: It is hard to imagine, and when you see the old pictures it really was a disaster!
What a beautiful scene Bill. You did a great processing job here!
Bill Phillips: Thank you Richard. The North Devon coast is very beautiful
You're processing made this very magical. It's like a golden light is shining.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Mary. I am very pleased you like this.
Good coastal scene Bill, suits the finish as well.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Les, glad you like it.
Lovely scene, make a cool postcard
Bill Phillips: Cool is good enough for me...I'm not often cool
nice twiddling
Bill Phillips: Thanks Paul. Hard to type with a cats' tail up your nose!!
Amazing how you converted a dreary day into a one filled with a magical light.
Wonder how people get to their boats, by going down the ropes?
Bill Phillips: Thank you very much Viktor. I love the idea of the people going down the ropes. I think they use the ladders attached to the wall, or they could wait for the tide to go out walk to their boat, have a picnic while they wait for the tide to come back in...no perhaps not
The glow is very interesting. It doesn't look damp or cold in this shot.
Bill Phillips: Believe me it was not warm!! It wasn't actually raining when I took this.
I reckon you are standing on the very same spot that I stood on last June Bill to take this view of the harbour. I like the treatment with the filter, it gives it a bit of an old world look. Nice place to go isn't it.
Bill Phillips: Lynmouth is beautiful Brian and it had been along time since I was last there. Helen and Andy loved it and luckily the weather brightened up for them and they got some nice pictures of the valley of the rocks. I think we will have to go back sooner rather than later!
Considering how lousey the day was you've done very well to twiddle to such great effect. They often say that the Lynmouth flash flood disaster was caused by artificial seeding of clouds over Exmoor to try & induce rain. I personally wouldn't have put it past 'em
Bill Phillips: I'd have thought Exmoor got enough rain...it certainly did when I used to go deer watching up there!
i like the way the toning has still allowed the color of the boats and the good old red phone box to show through Bill, nice one
Bill Phillips: Thanks Tim. I like these filters they are a useful tool...expect to see more
where did u take this, Bill? It's a awesome back-in-time-shot and it looks like it's been painted.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Kavita. Lynmouth is a small town on the north Devon coast in England. It is a lovely area and if you ever have the chance it is well worth a visit.
Hi Bill. Lynmouth and the upper village at the top of the vernicular railway are both beautiful places. We spent a lovely day here back in 06. the cafe is nice on the left on the otherside of the white bridge. oh .. lovely photo by the way. It does the place justice. :o) John
Bill Phillips: Thanks John. It is a lovely place and Helen and Andy got some decent weather and had a great time. They found a very nice cafe in Lynton, which did great breakfasts!
I like the filter, I assume you have fully purchased Corel now, as you seem to be showing of its capabilities more and more?
Bill Phillips: I have indeed Nig. It's good value, if a little slow in doing things. Couldn't afford £500 for CS3, so with a copy of this and photoshop7 I get by. The main drawback is it doesn't read pentax raw..yet!
Bill, this is some great shot, I once was in England and I saw the tide in the rivers, I was surprised, in Holland we have the lockes in the rivers to prevent the tide to come in, I love this processing, I have Paint shop pro too, love it, like you do....
Bill Phillips: It is good value for money Astrid and has some useful tools. Glad you like the picture. If you want to see tides in the rivers google Severn bore...if you don't know about it you will be amazed!
great treatment, lovely shot. mal
Bill Phillips: Thanks Mal. A decent day here you could get hundreds of pictures...on this day you would have frozen to death!
Nice bit of PPing here, Bill.
Bill Phillips: Cheers Dave. My daughter got some pictures in the sun here as it brightened up for their honeymoon
