Droitwich Lido park again. This sculpture was made from the stump of a tree that had to be removed. Good isn't it?

I think the idea of these sculptures is absolutely brilliant. They use something that's already there and really, they've got to be absolutely right first time, they can't have another go can they? Such skill.
Bill Phillips: They are good aren't they. Certainly better than just leaving a stump!
Fantastic sculpture! And such a clever way to preserve a portion of the tree. Nice composition.
Bill Phillips: In the background is the Lido swimming pool, hence the choice of a diver. I think it's a good idea to do this if a tree has to come down
I am not normally interested in tree sculptures, Bill, but this one is quite interesting. I had thought of a comment but then remembered that this is a family show. Dissapointed that I can hardly make out your name!!!
Bill Phillips: I felt a modest signature was appropriate in front of a piece of art far superior to anything of mine.
nice stump !
Bill Phillips: Indeed!!
This is a great tree sculpture, Bill.
Bill Phillips: It is good isn't it. I smile every time I walk past it.
They have some fine examples of these in Hull. I presume that they gradually weather and eventually rot away. Interesting choice of subject.

Bill Phillips: I suppose if they are hardwoods they would last a long time, softwoods not so long but probably quite a few years
bloody is good Bill, fabulous sculpture for sure, great shot m8
Bill Phillips: Cheers Tim. I like things like this. If the tree had to be felled for a good reason then this is a good way to make some use of the remains
First time I see such a sculpture. I like the idea. Great capture Bill!
Bill Phillips: I think they are getting quite popular here. There is a company who makes chainsaw bears from big logs and they are fun. I've seen them doing it and it is amazing to watch
Just moments ago I was thinking of a chainsaw sculpture that meant something to me. I come to have a look at SC and find this..... serendipity!
Great idea for using a tree.
Bill Phillips: I love it when that sort of thing happens. My wife has a talent of thinking about people we haven't seen for ages and then they phone or we get a letter!!
This is some crafstman...this is great, never saw something like this before...very well spotted and captured.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Astrid. I've seen chainsaw bears made out of large logs..it's impresive to watch. How goes you secret project??
Les has a tree type sculpture up at the moment and just like his this is lots of fun.
Bill Phillips: It was that and another one by someone else that prompted me to dig this out of the unassigned bin
Excellent Bill. At Westonbirt Arboretum (mid way between Chad's house & mine incidentally) they have an annual tree carving event
Bill Phillips: I didn't know that ( that's both things) I like Westonbirt.
It takes courage just to venture into the Lido Park - you brave man! I'm glad the diver had his trunks on - even if they are decorated!
Bill Phillips: I probably wouldn't go there to take night pictures!
It most certainly is, Bill: well spotted, That Man!
Bill Phillips: Thanks Dave. There seems to be a "growing" number of this sort of thing
VERY good ! Very nice sculpture !
Bill Phillips: I rather like it too!
