Bathampton Church
In Tiff territory visiting Bathampton Primary School. Took a few pictures of the canal and the church. Light wasn't up to much but I quite liked this one.

The light is just enough, Bill, and perfect for the quiet solitude of this place. It also is perfect in mono.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Ginnie. I took this in colour but intended it to be in mono. It was lovely and quiet in there.
i reflected on the words Ginnie used 'quiet solitude'... and it resonates with the picture so well. one can hear this image if one listens. well done, Bill.
Bill Phillips: I like the idea of hearing this image Terry. You could "hear" the silence in here. I even closed the door very quietly as I left!
Bill - that's where I live! Not in the church or school but just up the road
Bill Phillips: Lucky you Chris, It's a nice place to live. This was the second time I've been to the school and hopefully one of these days they will buy something from me.
One can not only hear this photograph, but the low lightening allows one to see more.
Bill Phillips: What caught my eye initially was the light just catching the brass memorial on the left. I was pleased that the camera has handled these lighting conditions rather well. I'm actually rather pleased with this picture
It creates a special atmosphere, almost divine ... Well spotted !!!
Bill Phillips: Thanks Ann. There was a lovely atmosphere in here
Looks good Bill - nice composition.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Mike. I'm rather pleased with this one!
I'm not a religious person at all, but I do love a nice church interior. There is something so peaceful about the atmosphere and there is always that particular church smell! What caught my eye here was the row of books on the chairs.
Ingrid
Bill Phillips: I'm the same...and I know what you mean about the church smell! It was nice that this church wasn't locked as many often are these days.
LOve the windows
Bill Phillips: Thanks Vintage. There were several rather nice windows.
This captures what the architects must have had in mind: windows as a symbol of better things to come. Good work!
Bill Phillips: Thank you very much Martin.
I'm confused Bill you visited a school yet posted a church ... Spill the beans and tell me more about the school visit. richard
Bill Phillips: Visited the school to talk about some ideas for their playground. I did a proposed scheme for them 12 months ago but things have moved on. I had a bit of time before my appointment so went to have a look at the church and canal that are close to the school. If you want to see my play website it is www.spaplay.co.uk
Nice composition. I like the atmosphere created by the lighting!
Bill Phillips: Thank you Richard, pleased you like it.
personally i think the light is great Bill, hasn't blown the windows yet has cast enough to see the interior, well done
Bill Phillips: What I meant Tim was that the light outside was flat and dull. It probably helped this picture because it wasn't too bright. Anyway I'm just glad you like it
Oh so do I. Very peaceful, and serene.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Dave. It was very peaceful
Ginnie and Terry are right- you have the quiet spiritual atmosphere in this church well captured, especially the connection of light and shadow, the peaceful order of all 'things' side by side, coming together from different times, a place where you have to pause and to refrain from any action!
Bill Phillips: Thanks Philine. You have summed it up beautifully
You captured the atmosphere very well, love the lighting, serenity all over.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Astrid. It was so quiet in there and very peaceful
I think the light is perfect! Lovely shot. (:o)
Bill Phillips: Thanks Roz. I'm pleased with this one!
The lack of light in this Bill is really the whole beauty of the picture I feel and is how the building must have looked to you as you began to walk round.
Bill Phillips: It's funny how b&w captures the atmosphere in the church as it actually felt, so much more than did the original colour shot
