We went on a S.& C.excursion many years ago and got about two hours in Carlisle. What we saw was quite impressive, we did get into the cathedral, it would be a nice place to visit again.
Bill Phillips: It is a nice place and I wouldn't mind a return trip either Brian

I stopped off in carlisle on my way home from the Outer Hebridges last year. The Premier Inn was the worst I stayed in (very dated and the attached restaurant hasd seen better days, too) but the city itself around the cathedral was very pleasant. I bet that building is no longer used as a police station.
Bill Phillips: It is unusual to find a duff Premier Inn these days.
i like this collage Bill... you stayed outside and took pictures while Ange went through the shops... againsmile
....petersmile
Bill Phillips: I think she was looking in an Estate Agent's window, she was still working for one back then
And then we get 13 years of rubbish.
Bill Phillips: As we are entering the season of goodwill I think you should drop this pretence and admit that you love my pictures.....rnI dunno though .......that would be really boring
That's a grand looking police station, Bill. So different from what we have here.
Bill Phillips: We used to have a lot of rather nice police stations but many have closed now

this looks like a charming town
Bill Phillips: It is Sherri, and as it has a cathedral it is a city.
