Is the cream tea arriving later? I like the doll collapsed on to the plate. The Daily Mirror was probably not part of the "gutter press" at that time.
Bill Phillips
: At its' best it was a campaigning paper of the left. Just another rag now sadly

I have a dim memory of these teapots being called 'brown Betties' but that might just be a figment of my imagination!
Bill Phillips
: They were and still are. Many people say they are the only way to make tea. We have a blue one!

I like this series Bill. They do sum up what cave houses are like. Cosy, warm (in winter), cool (in summer), and quiet..

a wonderful, nostalgic- melancholic composition! Is this Wedgewood porcelain? The newspaper looks a bit like saved from the depth of the ocean.
Bill Phillips
: It may be as Kinver is in Staffordshire (but only just). The newspaper is 100 years old

Thank goodness it wasn't the Daily Mail.
... and as Mike has suggested, yes they are brown betties and we have several of them of all different sizes but a rich deep brown glaze.
Bill Phillips
: I detest that paper. We have a blue Betty. They are the classic teapot
