It is such a pity that in the rush to save steam locomotives the need to preserve humble carriages was largely overlooked. Fortunately a wise soul on the SVR bought these Gresley teak beauties. I well remember similar examples in service..
Bill Phillips: Wonderful aren't they ? I wish there were more of the corridor coaches

A fine sight, too. I can just imagine the good old days of travel on the railways when one could enjoy a proper meal served at your seat by a white-coated waiter.
Bill Phillips: First class travel in the golden age of the railways must have been very pleasurable

Bill Phillips: Oh yes indeed so Philine!
Definitely a keepe, Bill.
Bill Phillips: I nearly missed it. I had been getting a cup of the and had just walked outside as she came past. I did't have time to change any settings hence this was taken at iso3200!

I didn't know the carriages were made of teak, Bill
Bill Phillips: These were from the days of the LNER. I don't know whether they were the only company that had teak carriages
Great shot!
Bill Phillips: Thank you Tom
Lovely Bill.
Bill Phillips: Thank you Michael
Lucky for you that you didn't miss it altogether, Bill. A great catch of these coaches.
Bill Phillips: I would have been very disappointed Beverly

A buffet bar, from where to watch autumn roll by. Better than choccie box.
Bill Phillips: Belgian choccie perhaps?
very atmospheric! i love those yellows on the trees.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Ayush. The tree colours made for a good background
I know where this is taken from, a lovely rake of Gresley coaches.
Bill Phillips: They are wonderful aren't they?
Awwww. I do love trains. Since the day I won a little contest at school, and they gave me a little train as a prize. A very colorful picture smile
Bill Phillips: There is something about trains...particularly steam locomotives that is just magical
