this feels like something that would have been worn into battle

I thought it might be an instrument of torture, Bill.
Bill Phillips: It would be if you tried to wear it Ray

It symbolises the burden a bishop has to carry!
Bill Phillips: I hadn't thought of that Philine

Well...if you're a bishop all well and good But if you're anything else, wearing this headgear might be deemed a trifle silly
Bill Phillips: You would have to be a bishop with a very strong neck I suspect

I like that song. Is that a metal hat? Who would want to wear that?
Bill Phillips: Wooden for a wooden bishop or perhaps a very large chess set

That would be a good test of the neck muscles. No walking along looking at your feet.
Bill Phillips: Don't think you would walk far at all wearing it
Quite a lot of skill and artistry in creating that wooden mitre. Surely it was never worn?
Bill Phillips: I would not think so Sheila.

Where did you spot this, Bill?
Bill Phillips: Hartlebury castle Lisl. My visit with Chris and Alan
The Bishop explained to me that he'd lost his hat.
I said "I 'Mitre' seen it"
The bolt of lightning never came.
Bill Phillips: It would have served you right if it had smile
I missed this when we went to Hartlebury last September, the day before we came to yours. At long last my short series from Hartlebury comes up next week.
Bill Phillips: I didn't notice it when Ange and I last went. I will be interested to see your series Brian
Might just fit your wooden head..... smile
Bill Phillips: It isn't big enough Mary

that looks like one heavy hat, Bill.
Bill Phillips: I would think so Ayush!
Reminds me of a chess piece! I suppose for good reason...
