photoblog image A visit to Tewkesbury

A visit to Tewkesbury

The most recent stained glass to be seen consists of two spectacular and very different windows in the chapel of St Catherine and St John the Baptist.  They were created by Tom Denny to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the monks’ arrival at the Abbey, the theme being the Benedictine motto ‘to work is to pray’.

This window really was something and over the next couple of weekends I am posting some details from it.

the stained glass is of course just beautiful, but the wood framing is what catches my eye

such workmanship

i've studied the building process through the years and i can't fathom what that would have been like in the various stages
Bill Phillips: The framework is all stone Sherri.
Very beautiful glass here after looking at several.
Bill Phillips: It is very fine isn't it?
