The making of a classic

Back in 2013 I had a tour round the Morgan car factory in Malvern. A uniquely British car manufacturer who still make a modern version of their famous three wheeler. Costs around £35000 and is hand built. It is a thing of beauty

It's quite amazing that this company making these odd cars still exists. However I'm pleased they do
Bill Phillips: They do well. The cars are a curious blend of hand made craft and hi tech.

Aaaah, good to see craftsmanship alive and well albeit is a small scale. I wonder if this car was able to be massed-produced on an assembly line how much would it affect the cost?
Bill Phillips: Probably not a great deal as it is a niche market car and part of its enduring appeal is rarity.

a classic car for sure. In England there might be still individuals who are able to buy such a car. There are more rich persons than in our country as I recently read.
Bill Phillips: The majority of Morgan cars are exported to Europe I believe Philine. The Company makes about a 1000 cars a year of which between 6-7 hundred are exported
I do believe that the waiting time from making an order and receiving it is is many many years ... perhaps 7 or 8 yrs.
Bill Phillips: Indeed 7 years if you want one to your exact requirements but I think dealers have some built for stock that you could buy a bit more easily.
l've never lusted after a three-wheeler since turning over my Isetta many years ago!
Bill Phillips: Hahahaha there is a world of difference between one of these and an Isetta!!
What a great opportunity for a visit, the engine certainly looks more modern than the ones I showed during my racing shots last year.
Bill Phillips: It is a great place to visit Brian. The engine is made by an American company S&S who started life tuning Harley Davidson engines, the gearbox comes from a Mazda MX5.
It is already impressive to see it this way, but I would also like to look at the finished version. Even though I think I've seen it in some magazines already
Bill Phillips: It is a thing of beauty Claudio
