Slough

Down here used to be the primary school Ange went to. It is long gone. Now there are two schools. On the right is The Willow Primary school which is run by the Marish Academy Trust which has two schools in Slough and on the left is the Iqra Primary school. It is an Islamic school and about 75 % of the pupils are from a Muslim background with 25% from other faiths. Both schools have good Ofsted reports (For those of you not familiar with UK Education Ofsted is the body that inspects schools )

Slough has a very multicultural and multi faith mix of people.

It looks rather more like an industrial/warehousing area than a schools area, Bill.
Bill Phillips: I is not an attractive building Ray
It looks like a military establishment, Bill. A bit like they want to have here....Funny video, though.
Bill Phillips: So many schools here are like this. It is certainly not easy to get in if they are not expecting you. I wonder what the kids think of it? You may need to explain the video to Elizabeth

looks more like a prison with the fence and gates

very interesting
Bill Phillips: There is a lot of security at schools here, and we have strict gun control. We don't get incidents like you have.
I am glad the schools are well rated, if not on aesthetics...
Bill Phillips: And safe too larry
Doesn't look the most pleasant of places... perhaps just not from this point of view.
A very bizarre video.
Bill Phillips: Frank will have to explain the video to you ....You have to be English grin

If they are doing well, presumably they are happy places, Bill
Bill Phillips: I would imagine so Lisl.
I wonder if the kids from the two schools get to play together while outside for recess?? Wouldn't that be wonderful!
Bill Phillips: They are actually completely separate sites Ginnie, but no doubt they all mix as the arrive and leave

I thought this was a picture taken within HMP Slough, temporary home for violent muggers and murderers
Bill Phillips: These days many schools are like high security installations. A sad reflection of the world we live in.

In the olden day we had little fences to keep us in. Now they have military style security, to keep 'them' out.
Bill Phillips: Sad but true Louis. We also have strict gun laws so "them" don't have assault rifles either

The area looks very messy Bill. Thank you for the video which reminds me of my youth.
Bill Phillips: The whole of Slough does. Stanley Unwin was a one off...probably just as well

That is damn good picture Billiamovski
Bill Phillips: No it isn't but it , hopefully, tells part of a story
Presume this is the back entrance to both.
Bill Phillips: No this is the front....there is no back entry
I think it is about to rain with the dark sky.
Bill Phillips: It threatened but we were lucky

That are a lot of gates around those schools. I wonder if that is needed....
Bill&Ben are real English I assume.....
Bill Phillips: It is the norm these days Astrid.

Bill and Ben are the Flowerpot Men. From my childhood

I thought that this was a prison compound judging by the security fences. Unbelievable.

Fancy Elizabeth saying that about the video smile
Bill Phillips: I am sure Frank will explain the video
So deserted and under a sky so dark it looks like an apocalypse image.
Bill Phillips: It was a Sunday morning and so very much deserted
