Don't Ask

What is your favourite popular song?

Impossible I can think of so many but in terms of seeing a performance I remember seeing Neil Sedaka and hearing him sing this. He was, and still is a wonderful master of his art.

Fine likeness, William.

Jane Olivor is my favourite singer of this rather forlorn song.
Bill Phillips: Don't know that version. Having head Sedaka sing this live, and it was the first time I heard him sing it and hadn't realised he wrote it just blew me away!
i had never heard of this singer, Bill. thank you for the introduction.
Bill Phillips: Neil Sedaka has never really had the recognition he deserves. A fine songwriter and classically trained pianist he is brilliant live
Um OK - I won't ask...

I couldn't say my favorite... too many to choose from. Stevie Wonder "Higher Ground", Kathy Mattea "Where've You Been" - I've never heard it that I didn't cry, Free "All Right Now" - favorite road trip song - never heard it that I didn't smile and dance in the car seat.... Shall I continue... ?? smile
Bill Phillips: Like you I could go on. Cryin' Roy Orbison...and Running scared and the crowd. When the Levee breaks Led Zep.....Runaway Del Shannon. So many more.

Welcome to my place, just make you feel at home... Fabulous picture and a wonderful song....
Bill Phillips: You don't have to be mad to come in but it helps
There are coming to take me away.
Bill Phillips: Napoleon XIV
I'm not even going to ask for an explanation but I do think the video is excellent, Neil Sedaka still pops up every now on then on BBC4 documentaries and Sky Arts. Near the top of my list is John Lennon-Imagine. Years ago I was in a music and drama society and the accompianist used to perform Imagine as his cabaret piece and if anything it was even better than Lennon singing it.
Bill Phillips: I have seen documentaries about him. He really is a very fine musician

Imagine is a great song
Well, that's singing in the choir! ... Favorite song - Moondance. Favorite version of a song - Phoebe Snow with Gershwin's, There's a Boat That's Leavin' Soon. Bob Dylan and Van are my favorites for writing.
Bill Phillips: I know you are a big Van Morrison fan.
