Melton Mowbray 2

These are some rather nice Alms houses opposite St Mary's Church. There was an information board on the opposite side of the road to them but I can't remember what it said.

I love the creative road lines, Bill.
Bill Phillips: This country spends almost as much on road line paint as it does on the NHS

Features such as these are often hidden gems in towns
Bill Phillips: They are. There are some nice ones tucked away in Worcester

a nice composition of different lines and rows. I wonder about the emptiness of the road, no cars and no people.
Bill Phillips: I was lucky!
C'est bizarre ces lignes en zig-zag au sol. Ici, nous n'avons pas cela.
Bill Phillips: They are placed at pedestrian crossings and you are not allowed to park or even stop to let someone out

Now this is more like it in terms of interest. I like the different chimney pots especially, as well as the fine stonework. I found some almshouses in Scumsville few weeks ago; I did not know they were there before; I've only lived in the city for 60+ years, though.
Bill Phillips: They are nice. There are some n ice ones around our neck of the woods too
There are some rather nice old buildings in the centre of Melton as you probably found out.
Bill Phillips: There are indeed Brian. Pleasant little town

Good thing you English know what those zig-zag lines mean. I see some skid marks, where someone tried to follow them. Must have been a foreigner.
Bill Phillips: Probably just a local idiot. We have a lot of idiots on our roads
it's a wonderful street composition Bill... but why mention the information board at all grin
....petersmile
Bill Phillips: So that you would know what you are missing thanks to my poor memory Peter grin
What a nice building! What do the different lines on the road mean?
Bill Phillips: The double yellow ones mean that you are not allowed to park and the zig zag lines are placed at pedestrian crossings to indicate that you should not park or even stop to drop somebody off
