Magnifique bâtiment avec ces briques.
Bill Phillips: Thank you Martine
I agree, a cool spot with some modern goulash on the side smile Nice shot.
Bill Phillips: That is a good way of describing it Rob

I like Rob's comment - he has put it very well, Bill
Bill Phillips: So do I Lisl. He has summed it up very well

This could be St Trim's Academy for Genteel Womenfolk
Bill Phillips: They wouldn't be very genteel after he had been tutoring them
Rob nailed it for you, I'm sure. I guess it's a way of saying no one can compete with those days of yore, so why even try?!
Bill Phillips: He did indeed. To be fair I have seen far far worse than this

The added bit could be worse - in general I like the combination of old and new.
Bill Phillips: It could indeed Philine and I have seen far worse as I am sure you have
If they really needed a link then I think it is ok. What I like is the sweeping lines of the footpath in your snapshot Bill.
Bill Phillips: I am pleased you like the sweeping lines. I was rather pleased with them and you are the only one to comment on them.

You're right, Bill, that added bit isn't great architecturally.
Beautiful old building though.
Bill Phillips: It could be a lot worse Pauline
I realized long ago that any changes to old buildings are not going to please most people but they do it anyway.
Bill Phillips: When they get it right the result can be wonderful. The atrium at the British museum is a good example
I agree with you Bill! Superb capture.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Richard. I have seen worse!

The dean probably needed an atelier for painting on his days off.
Bill Phillips: Hahahaha You never know Louis

Sometime we wonder what goes on in the architects brain...
Love the lines in this picture, great framing with the tree and the sky is a bonus. LOL @ Chris
Bill Phillips: I have met a number of architects over the years and with some of them the answer is not a lot

I often LOL at Chris

The original building is fabulous. I will watch out for Some College or Other on University Challenge at some point.
Bill Phillips: They probably won't do very well
That bit, as you call it, doesn't fit in at all.
Bill Phillips: It ain't great Brian but it could have been worse
Yeah, pretty insensitive, isn't it!

The sky was working with you, Bill.
Bill Phillips: Sometimes it does Ray and sometimes you need Tiff's neighbour's shed stock
