Spring Meadow

The Spring Meadow in Droitwich. Opened in the 80s and closed its doors for the last time about a year ago. Now it is boarded up and as far as I know awaiting demolition to be replaced by houses

I like you treatment... like it's fading away before our eyes! What is Spring Meadow? A spa? Retirement home?
Bill Phillips: It is a pub E. One of many that are closing every week!
I like the fading away effect Bill! Well done.
Bill Phillips: It is fading away Richard and will be knocked down after only about 30 years use

What was it, a pub?
Bill Phillips: It was Chris and at one time was very popular. It has only lasted 30 odd years

Your interesting treatment emphasises the 'awaiting demolition'.
Bill Phillips: It is a shame as in its early days it wasn't a bad pub

The developers have their eye on any small urban building with land, Bill
Bill Phillips: It will be interesting to see how many houses they pack into the space Lisl
One big S I G H. And they think this is progress, of course.
Bill Phillips: Pubs are closing at an alarming rate Ginnie. In 2009 about 50 a week were closing and even now about 25 a week are shutting their doors.
Ok so you have done this just to annoy me.
Bill Phillips: Not you especially Pilgrim
I have toothache, this doesn't help.
Bill Phillips: I know a very good dentist

I like your bleached feeling. Probably another state secret, how you produced it. Probably a misfire of the flash on too high an ISO setting.

Way back you could buy a book with house ideas. They had these lightly coloured pictures in them.
Bill Phillips: Not really. Just a twiddle in Color Efex pro
It seems to be fading in it's future.
Bill Phillips: Soon it will be only a memory Mary
It seems to me that anywhere that is closed seems to be in danger of being replaced by houses, that's what it like round my way.
Bill Phillips: To be honest there is not much alternative Brian
the treatment really makes the light most unusual. i wonder if the authorities are taking the local community along with their development plan, Bill, with consensus?
Bill Phillips: I think people are largely indifferent. This particular pub has not been very good for some time and it won't be missed. Houses are the only realistic alternative

Oh dear. So many pubs closing now. The one that was nearest me has been a Co-op for several years now; it still has the original pub sign post outside but with the Co-op name. There's a new pub being built very close to the Mad House; I may just see it open before I retire.
Bill Phillips: A couple of pubs in Worcester have been converted into flats and very effectively. They were Victorian though and thus have blended in well. This is a typical 80s building and won't be missed. There are other pubs in town where the landlords are threatening to quit and this is down to the attitude of the breweries. They would be missed as they are good pubs
Very appropriately fading away!
Bill Phillips: Soon just to be a memory

Looks like a house with a big concrete garden, Bill.
Bill Phillips: Or as we call it a pub
