photoblog image Shoes and a bag

Shoes and a bag

Bought a new lens recently. Pentax 50mm F1.8 which had been reduced in price by a huge amount and looked a bargain. The write ups on it were good and I plan to use it for portraits mainly of the grandchildren as it is a reasonably fast lens This picture was taken at f2

Phew! A rare Droitwich Murphy!
Bill Phillips: Hahahaha
I wish you luck with your new lens Bill, and with snapping away at the grandchildren.
Bill Phillips: I have taken a few snaps of the grandchildren with it so far

I see a leather chair. Who puts the shoes on a seat - this brings bad luck as my grandmother said.
Bill Phillips: Here it is bad luck to put new shoes on a table Philine.

We await with baited breath. This looks like a Blackdog image
Bill Phillips: It does a bit......
Now go and find how high you can push the ISO and still get a good image.
Bill Phillips: Yes indeed Michael. This was iso100! We have a Lions fund raiser coming up which is a concert with The Dublin Jacks in the local working men's club so it could be the ideal opportunity . If I get anything half as good as your recent ones I will be well pleased

This ill open up new horizons then, Bill
Bill Phillips: I hope to get my money's worth Lisl
It certainly gives a great DOF at f2 Bill. I am looking forward to see your portraits!
Bill Phillips: I have been impressed so far Richard
I have enjoyed the 60 mm that I got at Christmas. Good glass is great!
Bill Phillips: Pentax have always made decent lenses and this one promises to be a good buy
Hope it delivers for you Bill. This shot is quite atmospheric
Bill Phillips: It seems pretty good so far Janet

It's always exciting having some new toys to fiddle with. 50mm seems to be a typical lens for portraiture.
Bill Phillips: Well it is equivalent to 75mm in old money so is not a bad portrait size
Good start with your new lens Bill. 50mm.lenses are starting to come back into vogue once again, I used one at my club earlier this year and couldn't get used to not being able to zoom in and out without physically moving.
Bill Phillips: It is a bit strange after years of zoom lenses

Looking impressive, looking forward to seeing more
Bill Phillips: I will no doubt post more at some stage Anne
A good start, bill.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Tom. I think it will get quite a bit of use

I'm sure you will have plenty of challenging fun with this, Billiam
Bill Phillips: I hope so comrade
The results look spectacular... I used a 50mm when I took film shots and loved it...
Bill Phillips: at an equivalent 75mm it should make a useful portrait lens Larry
It has a nice effect, Bill
Bill Phillips: Nice shallow depth of field which is handy!
