Llanerchaeron 2

I love the symmetry of this house. apparently Nash was a fanatic for it so many of the rooms have fake doors just so they maintain the symmetry.

Quite interesting - it looks pristine as well as symmetric.
Bill Phillips: It was a lovely house and one you could happily live in!
i like this point of view as well Bill... everything looks too neat and tidy....petersmile
Bill Phillips: Well it is a National Trust property Peter.
Being a symmetry man, I love it too Bill!
Bill Phillips: I had a feeling you would Richard

Do you know if that was the colour originally painted that the NT are using?
Bill Phillips: I don't know Lisl. I imagine it must have been this colour at some time in its' history as the NT usually try for authenticity

Sounds liek a good idea. It would confuse the heck ouyt of any visitores, though, as they try to open one the false doors.
Bill Phillips: Well they shouldn't be so nosey
Symmetry can become a bit of an obsession Bill, I often like Gothic partly because of its lack of symmetry, but I do like this place very much. Symmetry was a Renaissance ideal.
Bill Phillips: I like Gothic, but I like symmetry in houses too. Part of the appeal of Georgian houses is that they often look like the houses small children draw, with a door in the middle and windows either side
I like the decorative frame above the small half moon windows.
Bill Phillips: It is a nice touch isn't it?
spotless, Bill. great shot
Bill Phillips: Thanks Ayush, pleased you like it

It sounds a fascinating place - I like his symmetry
Bill Phillips: Well worth a visit. We were there for several hours
I like the look of this place. We actually enjoy the more modest NT.properties like this rather than the big posh houses full of all sorts of chine, paintings and so on. We now have a new one opened in the spring about 10 minutes from us which is really fascinating, we have now been twice since it opened, once to do the inside and the other to walk the gardens and woodland. https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/stoneywell/
Bill Phillips: You would like this then Brian
