Into each life

The day is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
The vine still clings to the mouldering wall,
But at every gust the dead leaves fall,
And the day is dark and dreary.

My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering Past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary.

...and on that cheerful note, I'm off to the beach for the evening. Warm and sunny now I'm back on the mainland. Looking forward to some wet rides on bike when I get home, though smile
Bill Phillips: Funnily enough it has been nice here for a couple of days
A fine illustration to this poem Bill!

I like your photo and the poem, but it is not your life, Bill! Alan is always on the sunny or chocolate side (as we say in German) of life.
Bill Phillips: We had a very wet holiday apart from one day. But we still enjoyed it

That just about sums up the summer we've had this year, Bill.
