it's a wonderful photo of the artist at work Bill...

the woman walked around it like he was about to ask her for money...
she could have dropped some change into his bowl....petersmile
Bill Phillips: I don't think she was aware of his existence Peter. I got chatting to him and asked if I could take pictures. He was happy for me to do so and suggested I might like to take a picture of his artwork.

Very good image, Bill...the surrounding of the artist make it even more so!
Bill Phillips: I seem to spend a lot of time outside TKMaxx when we are in Worcester Ray.
Great capture Bill! The woman does bother about him...
Bill Phillips: She is totally unaware. Like most people these days she is glued to her phone

A fine reaction shot. I don't think he's expecting much reward for this work..
Bill Phillips: I did ask him if I could take his picture and he was very pleasant. Unlike comrade Trim I put some money in his pot.

a familiar scene in our towns and cities! The most people don't even pay attention -or money - to the street painters.
Bill Phillips: Sadly true. I did get talking to him and asked to take his picture. He was very amiable and invited me to take a photograph of his artwork!
I love his boxes of chalk, Bill, but I wonder about those tinted glasses. Are they his???
Bill Phillips: I imagine they must be ginnie

The trouble is, that to purchase his work would be made more difficult because of the need to prise the paving slab up.

The young woman has prioritised and thinks her text message is far more important than observing human artistic creativity.
Bill Phillips: She probably wouldn't have noticed even if he had been naked

A former pavement artist in Bath now has his work in Tate Modern
Bill Phillips: Is that necessarily much of a recommendation Lisl? grin
I will enjoy this!
Bill Phillips: This chap does not feature again until the end of the series

Lovely capture, Bill. Some of these pavement artists are so talented.
Bill Phillips: They are indeed and I like to see them working

It is a hard life.
Bill Phillips: It is for some although few of them are politicians grin
She is wearing the form of jeans that are purported to be bad for one's circulation.
Bill Phillips: Well tut tut
Some of these people make the most artistic of pictures, it is a shame they can only last for a day.
Bill Phillips: I did photograph his picture so it has been preserved
Well captured Bill. He looks quite talented
Bill Phillips: The picture was a Sci fi one...i have seen far worse
i could be wrong but if he doing this art work on the ground? what is the medium used? terrific effort by this artist, Bill and a great shot
Bill Phillips: He is using chalk and when he has finished the rain and people walking on it will wash it away and then he will do another one

I haven't seen so many pavement artists of late - sand dog makers seem to be more popular at the moment.

As for the distractions of mobile phones, I saw this yesterday

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-33124433
Bill Phillips: I looked at the link. seems like pandering. If people want to text then they should stop out of the way and do it. I saw on the BBC website that a woman has been jailed for 5 years for killing a cyclist whilst using her mobile phone when driving.
A nice street scene of today, Bill.
Bill Phillips: It is indeed. He seemed an amiable character when I chatted with him
These pavement artists can be very good.
Bill Phillips: They can indeed. I don't think he was top flight

So of these are very good; I've seen some that look 3D. The girl seems more interested in something on her phone.
I love the appreciation you've show for him by taking this photo!
Bill Phillips: He was an amiable character E
