But the staircase is leading finely to the cathedral - I now see the perpendicular style of the main nave.

Oh dear now I won't be able to post a picture I took of York Minster on Saturday with a tower obscured by a lamp, there's nothing new under the Sun is there. Anyway I do actually like this, I don't remember seeing these steps.
