This works with minimal pixels, Bill.
Bill Phillips: Cheers Ray. It came out OKsmile
it turned out great Bill... that is a wonderful old shop....petersmile
Bill Phillips: Nice to see shops like this still going Peter
This frontage is a gem Bill!
Bill Phillips: It is isn't it Richard?
It was a good find. I like it when it includes... & daughter.
Bill Phillips: It isn't something you see all that often Jacquelyn

a wonderful shop - very deasr, old English- and I like that the daughter (and not the 'sons' as usually) is mentioned!
Bill Phillips: It is unusual but I saw a Lorry company once that was somebody and daughter!

Very agreeable but I would have ramped it up in the tonemapping machine for extra effect
Bill Phillips: This was as ramped as it would go

Is it still there, Bill?
Bill Phillips: I don't know. Mick Shaw or Frank might as I think this was in Morecambe

Sounds as if Fred Battersby was having the same problem as Henry V111 in not producing a son to continue the male ''superiority'' for his business
Bill Phillips: I hope his wife didn't meet the same fate as some of Henry's !

I thought that I would post a really clever, intelligent and witty comment on your blog.
Bill Phillips: but you couldn't think of anything

It all looks very traditional in the shop front. Good to hear that the daughter is involved, too, and not just out enjoying coffee mornings or whatever woman do these days. The top part of the building looks rather unloved.
Bill Phillips: You are walking on eggshells here Alan

http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/frederick-battersby-and-daughter-morecambe - a fine address in Lancashire! Lol at RT's comment. Perhaps the daughter is named Elizabeth?
Bill Phillips: Thank you Philine. I thought it was Morecambe and it is good that it is still going as I took this about 10 years ago. Elizabeth Battersby has a good ring but not as good as Elizabeth Croston smile

I tried Goggling Battersby and I got were links to Coronation Street characters!
Bill Phillips: You do not have Philine's expertise Alan
Looks like the textured plaster is sagging. I love frame shops.
Bill Phillips: I am not sure how old this building is but it could do with some tlc
An oldie but goody Bill.
Bill Phillips: Me? The song? The picture?
My word that's an old building isn't it.
Bill Phillips: I have no idea how old but that first floor window looks like a Victorian addition
printing industry has come a long way since 1949, Bill
Bill Phillips: Hasn't it! There probably wasn't that much difference from 1849 to 1949 but since the advent of digital the world has changed totally
Rather nice to see & daughter, but I suppose & son is less common now also. Interesting looking building
Bill Phillips: I am wondering if it is as old as it would like to appear
As I said, I forgot to add the commemt.
Bill Phillips: Yes we established that but have not progressed to you actually adding the comment. This seems a simple enough concept

1. you have a comment
2. You forget to add it
3. You realise
4. You correct the omission
5. I get to discover your pearl of wisdom

On second thoughts.....forget all of the above
Another goody from Dr. Hook, and a type of sign one doesn't see too often! I wonder if they are still around?
Bill Phillips: It is indeed Tom, and yes they are as Philine has done the research
