Paul Newbury's Garage

Times move on and what used to be Paul Newbury's  garage, where I have bought a few cars over the years, and at one time bought most of my petrol is nearly no more. Paul retired some years ago and sold the car servicing part of the business to the staff who had worked for him for many years, and who I have known for many years. They have moved to new premises. The car sales side has moved to Wychbold.

The site is still to be a petrol station with a Marks and Spencer Simply food outlet.

Well it could be worse, couldn't it. You could have any sort of Scumsville-type fast food outlet being chucked up in this place. M&S is ok
Bill Phillips: Indeed. Just a bit sad as I have known this place for over 30 years

a sad place connected with many memories for you.
Bill Phillips: Interestingly when this one is completed, all three garages in Droitwich will have been demolished and rebuilt in the last couple of years

Changing times, indeed. I'm sure M&S will be a good draw as long as people don't block the pumps whilst they wander round getting their food.
Bill Phillips: It is a surprisingly large site so their should be room for parking. It is within easy walking distance for us in the unlikely event we ever use it grin

M&S are doing the same in Stow on the Wold. It must be a new push!

All things must pass as George used to say.
Bill Phillips: It does seem to be a trend. The demise of the huge out of town supermarket perhaps is on the horizon. As you say all things must pass
Things are changing with the time Bill...
Bill Phillips: Indeed Richard, we have seen a lot of changes in the 37 years we have lived in Droitwich
We had a similar place round the corner from us on the main road except they didn't do petrol, I had all my servicing done there and very good they were too. Now there is a small, but quite pleasant, estate of houses on the site.
Bill Phillips: It will be a petrol station again and M&S food. Handy if I ever want to use it
Change is all around us - I believe Heraclitus said it first smile

Its an unsettled sky, Bill.
Bill Phillips: Full of foreboding
