Last stop Ilfracombe. Only a brief stop in what is quite an interesting town.  Actually I don't know much about the place but it looks as if it might be interesting

Did you all have a swim here, Bill?
Bill Phillips: No!!
Well then I'm quite sure it is...
I do like the lovely color of the water here.
Bill Phillips: I have been to Ilfracombe a few times over the years but never for more than an hour or two.

The hills at the head of the harbour look a bit rugged Bill... i've seen a lot of scenes like this during the past few weeks....petersmile
Bill Phillips: The North Devon Coast is pretty rugged Peter
LOL at Astrid. It does make a difference when the basin fills up! smile
Bill Phillips: The boats seem to like it Ginnie
Looks very interesting Bill but that wee wispy puffy cloud grabs my eye.
Bill Phillips: It caught mine too Scotia

I remember climbing down a ladder on this wall into a small fishing boat called the Lundy Gannet at 5am one dark October morning to go to Lundy. I got stranded there for 10 days!
Bill Phillips: Well let that be a lesson to you

I'm thinking more Mediterranean than north Devon. I like the little cloud.
Bill Phillips: I like the little cloud too. We could start a Little cloud Wednesday...........
It looks quite Mediterranean to me Bill. The tones are superb!
Bill Phillips: It doesn't often look like this!

It was a place people used to go on holiday to when I was a child, but despite being enthralled by the name I have yet to go either. Sounds like I might just give it a miss.
Bill Phillips: Worth a visit but not to go out of your way for

This could be the Med. bill, not the North Devon coast.
Bill Phillips: Shows what wondrous weather you conjured up for us Ridge
It certainly seems like a well timed trip
Bill Phillips: We were so lucky with the weather John
This is really pretty. I am guessing very early morning by the feel of it. It looks like there is milk in the water.
Bill Phillips: Actually it was in the afternoon Mary. I see what you mean about the water
Thats interesting...
Bill Phillips: Yeah zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I doubt that they've had weather like that since you left!
Bill Phillips: You could well be right Tom!
We had a long weekend at Ilfracombe some years ago, it is quite an interesting place, especially the beach area the other side of the caves one has to go through to get there.
Bill Phillips: I will have to return then Brian

We stopped over for a night. They had some festival for which the streets were full of people in period costumes and some doing folk dances. Stayed in a nice hotel, the pub run by the owners two sons. We got to talk rugby and it soon proved there were an Aussie, a Kiwi and some more from various rugby countries. After 24:00 we put the two young ones (sons of owner) to rest on two couches - out for the count. Each had a turn to run the pub and till, and so on. We finished up somewhere around 03:00. Was memorable.

Nice place, nice people.
Bill Phillips: Ah that makes for a good reason to like somewhere

It's very "hilly". .... Did you there via the A39 ?? ...hate that road in a car ...let alone a lorry :-( ........great shot bill smile
Bill Phillips: I think we might have done...I wasn't driving but I know what you mean. I used to have to go to Watermouth Castle every so often with my job and it was a nightmare
yeap I agree, very interesting Bill.. will make a perfect boat Friday
Bill Phillips: Bit early then? grin
