Family Archive 2

I found this album of my mother's that I had forgotten about so as I scan some I will post them from time to time. These are of my dad with my mother's parents. I think the year is 1938. My parents were married in 1937

I can definitely see a likeness twixt yourself and your grandmother in the top middle picture. This is all good historical stuff isn't it
Bill Phillips: It is Chris. Interesting because I have never thought that I looks like her at all.

Always a great treat to see old photographs. I remember those deck chairs with the built in sun shade - right posh they were!
Bill Phillips: Nothing but the best for my Gran!

It's always so educational to look back at old pics, Bill, to see where we've come from. It's easy to pick out the similar characteristics!
Bill Phillips: It is interesting to see pictures of my parents from before I was born
So great to have this for you Bill!
Very nice presentation.
Bill Phillips: The album I got these from has pictures ofmy parents from before I was born so are interesting to me.

It's a shame that future generations won't have such a rich archive of prints in years to come. I should think the vast majority of photos never make it to a print. I remember those deck chairs with a canopy; such luxury.
Bill Phillips: I suppose it is like books and kindles. Things are changing.

Sup[erb Bill, that chap on the right of the top left image looks a bit like you! He is standing up though. I look forward to learning about these people. It is always poignant to see photos so close to the start of a major conflict.
Bill Phillips: Little did my parents know that after only a few years of married life they would be separated by war with my Dad in India/Burma for over 3 years
Everyone looked so smart in those days, Bill. It's lovely to take a look at the past.
Bill Phillips: They did and men even wore ties on holiday
I see you've recorded the date and people; I have a heap of family photo's, with no dates and some I'd be guessing at: who they are!
Priceless keepsakes, Bill smile
Bill Phillips: Some of the photos in the album have dates and some I have guessed
He obviously liked his in-laws and that is nice to see.
Bill Phillips: He did and my grandmother came to live with us for the last couple of years of her life. Sadly she was only 69 when she died

A box browny
Bill Phillips: My dad had a Balda camera in those days and I still have it
wow Bill... This is an amazing collection..alway priceless
Bill Phillips: They are good to have
I wonder if they had any inkling a war was coming?
Bill Phillips: Perhaps they did. If this is 1938 then it must have been at the back of people's minds
A fine set of family memories Bill. I've been scanning a whole load of my parents photos and sending them off to the history website of the village where they both grew up in, they are apparently being enjoyed by young and old alike before being put on the history part of the website.
Bill Phillips: What a good idea Brian. Well done!
Funny how they couldn't do without a tie, isn't it? You may recall one my dad sitting on the beach at Whitley Bay - just the same, cap, tie, jacket - the lot - he might even have had a waistcoat, if I remember rightly smile
Bill Phillips: It is very interesting. My dad seems to have some sort of casual shirt on in the bottom right picture which was probably quite daring!
