Two wonderful portraits Bill... your grandmother was a beautiful young woman... there is bit of rouge that they used on photos back in the day... your mother is also beautiful as are all babies....petersmile
Bill Phillips: She was indeed Peter, and a wonderful grandmother who I adored.

Impressive portraits, Bill...quite valuable family memories in here, I presume?
Bill Phillips: I have relatively few pictures of my family
What wonderful keepsakes these old photos are!
Bill Phillips: Priceless Elizabeth

Interesting. I think I can see a facial resemblance you have with your ma
Bill Phillips: Possibly although I am probably more like my dad. Certainly in colouring

Taken back when taking a photo was an art not just point and shoot
Bill Phillips: Studio shots from about 1919 I would think vintage

Make sure you do this now for Joseph, on the male side of the family, Bill.
Bill Phillips: I don't have a single picture of my dad's mother and only a very few of either grandfather, both of whom died before I was born. My father's mum died in 1963 in her nineties and I didn't like her any more than my dad did!

Actually I am wrong. I have one picture of his mother at their wedding

We should all do something like this, Bill - I am pleased to see your family
Bill Phillips: I agree Lisl.

Oh, Bill, you look like your mother "wie aus dem Gesicht geschnitten"! And Joseph looks similar to his grandmother.
Bill Phillips: I think we all have looks and expressions that remind of certain relatives. A lot of people say Kathryn is like me butin many ways she is like Angela's Aunt Enid. Enid and Kathryn became very close when she was at University in Reading. They were definite soul mates!

I am glad you have these pictures. Ginnie makes a point. That would be fun to have a line up with Joseph smile
Your Grandmother and mother arer both beautiful women.
Bill Phillips: Perhaps I should cobble together a family collage?

I would imagine that you take after your papa for your humour then Bill. Always good to see these photos.
Bill Phillips: Actually I think I do.

Love these old photos
Bill Phillips: They are priceless and it is nice that people find them interesting
I love these old photos. Your grandmother's has been hand tinted.
Bill Phillips: Indeed it has Mary. I would think these date from 1919 as my mother was born in 1918

Super Bill. What a striking woman your grandmother is! More pls!
Bill Phillips: She was a lovely woman in every way Mike
Great keepsakes, Bill! It looks like they were done at the same time?
Bill Phillips: I believe so Martin. I would think about 1919 as my mother was born in 1918

Such beautiful ladies, Bill.I agree with Lisl in that we should choose a day and all put our families on.
Bill Phillips: That would be fun Pauline!

Fascinating insights into family life. I wonder what life was really like back then?
Bill Phillips: For my Grandparents pretty good Alan. My mother's family owned, I think 3, shoe shops in Lancashire. My Dad's family were affluent enough to send him to Warwick school
We still have many photos of the same vintage as these, indeed some of them I don't even know who the people are.
Bill Phillips: I have no idea who most of the people are on my parent's wedding pictures, and an old album has many other snaps of people who I don't know either
wow Bill... what a priceless picture! Photography goes a long way!
Bill Phillips: It is the memory keeper Ronky
Two precious portraits, Bill. Judging from the background and the similar treatment it does look as if they are taken at the same time.
Bill Phillips: I have always assumed they were Beverly. I reckon about 1919
Shots like these always seem so eloquent. Lovely Bill.
Bill Phillips: Hand tinted studio shots. They are lovely to look at. Especially for me
These are precious images Bill!
Bill Phillips: They are Richard, thank you

For you these are magical and precious. Fascinating for us as well.
Bill Phillips: Indeed comrade. I am pleased people find them interesting too
Lovely shots, I love old family photos and have a huge collection.
Bill Phillips: I don't have a huge collection and too many have people in them that I don't know
delighted to see these very good shots Bill. i like the chubby hands together and the prim and proper expression.
Bill Phillips: Haha They had to sit still in those days!
