The main amusement in the village, obviously.
Bill Phillips: A focal point Ray
Yes... modern...

Amazing that the dude would wear a cape and eyeshadow. What a strange era that was!
Bill Phillips: Abba were the big thing in the seventies here!

I guess it was a real step-ahead when cards could be used without the need for all those coins?!
Bill Phillips: I used to have a phone card when I was a rep before the days of mobiles!

Well good old Bromsgrove hanging on to quaint old traditions such as phone booths in the street. I do like this open variety because some people suffer claustrophobia in the clouded ones, or fear that the door will slam locked shut .
Bill Phillips: Yes indeed the trade off is you usually can't hear a thing in these

Is this in the museum grin.... we don't have these in the Hollandshire anymore..
Bill Phillips: They are getting rarer here too Lady P. I don't know if this one actually worked

Good to see a user-friendly phone box, Bill, catering for all
Bill Phillips: A rare sight these days Lisl.

In our city those cabins are disappering more and more because of the mobile phones/Handys ... supervision is here easy!
Bill Phillips: They are increasingly rare here too Philine. I can't remember when I last used one

It's a small miracle to find these phone boxes these days, not everyone has a mobile - even in 2013
Bill Phillips: Believe it or not there is another one in tomorrow's picture. I wonder what that says about Bromsgrove?
You don't see many of those around now, Bill. It's good to see that Bromsgrove holds on to the old traditions.
Bill Phillips: My memory of most phone booths was either, the phone didn't work or the booth was so unsavoury you were relieved if the phone didn't work

Glorious indeed - it looks like it is working!!! And the open door means that angry old ladies can't bang on it with their coins to tell you to hurry up.
Bill Phillips: Or in this case the total lack of a door. Still that at least allows the air to circulate
I thought these were extinct! grin
Bill Phillips: Not in glorious Bromsgrove Martin

In the past it would have been adorned with business cards of hookers and a torn telephone book. Now you have to look up the number on your mobile smile
Bill Phillips: Which, of course, you and I would have averted our gaze from
signs of drunk people passing through.. Not clean
Bill Phillips: Clean and Phone box just don't go Preyi
Sorry, Abba - don't have coins or a card smile They could certainly move a song along couldn't they? smile
Bill Phillips: Funny how it is hard to find anyone who will admit to liking ABBA....so who bought all those millions of records?

Oh how quaint. Perhaps there's a preservation order on it in keeping with the other fine buildings that are in Bromsgrove.
Bill Phillips: I hope you aren't being ironic Alan
Not the most attractive place to make a phone call is it, and where are all the little calling cards offering a variety of services tucked away?
Bill Phillips: I cannot imagine what yo mean Brian
It doesn't seem to have suffered any vandalism
Bill Phillips: I suppose it isn't cool any more
Does anybody use it? Fine band video smile
Bill Phillips: I suspect not many Sarah
The lack of ads for local ladies is a bit off putting smile
Bill Phillips: They probably have their own facebook pages or websites John grin
Nice to see this is it still needed, there can't be many without mobiles nowadays..
Bill Phillips: I wonder how much use it gets ?
