That is sad - but it makes for great photography!
Bill Phillips: I have passed it many times and decided to stop and take a picture befor it is gone forever
this black and white HDR reveals a lot of details of... The Red Lion, is it?
Bill Phillips: Well it was Ayush. At one time it was called Mad O'Rourke's kipper house!!

There should be a law against it, Bill.
Bill Phillips: As Chris comments, Cheap booze in supermarkets and drink driving laws have changed how we live
i'm sure that this old pub has held a lot of secrets Bill... wonderful image and treatment....petersmile
Bill Phillips: If walls could talk eh Peter??

A pub with no beer sounds absolutely wrong, Bill. But your image is to die for!
Bill Phillips: It is not a thought that cheers Ginnie

This is a very fine example of how we have moved on as a nation. These local boozers have been killed by drink-driving laws and cheap takeaway booze from supermarkets. A whole way of life gone forever..
Bill Phillips: Indeed so Chris. I have been to this pub a few times in the past. It used to have a skittle alley and we had a couple of social

Oh, what a sad sight - even the name has almost vanished: The Red Lion became black and white.
Bill Phillips: It actually looks worse in colour Philine grin

I read there are private activities in the 'Big Society' of GB to keep alive pubs - like in our country there is private engagement to maintain shops in little villages -and they are successful.
Bill Phillips: Some villages here have created community pubs and shops, but many villages have neither any more

Great HDR. I love the mood of this picture. Too bad no beer after the picture was taken.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Lady P. Luckily there are still some pubs around here with decent beer

Now that's a shame. It looks to have plenty of character, too. I believe some it is down to the greed of the brewery.
Bill Phillips: This place has had a chequered career Alan, but what you say is certainly true I reckon

It is incredible how swiftly that nature takes over Bill.
Bill Phillips: True....this only closed yesterday
People don't want to go to Droitwich after seeing your images of the place,it's a wonder a lot more isn't shut down.
Bill Phillips: This isn't in Droitwich so two fingers to you matey.......If you send me your address I will send you something that you will really enjoy

Almost as iconic as a derelict caravan! The death of the social.
Bill Phillips: Haha and just a dry!
It's a sad sight, the end of an era; but it does make for a great shot, Bill!
Bill Phillips: There aren't many pure pubs left it seems. This one even failed doing food!

The song brings back memories to my parent's house parties of my youth. There was always plenty of beer. Sad about the old pub.
Bill Phillips: Sounds like your parents knew how to enjoy themselves Mary
I like....
Bill Phillips: Thanks smile
Good shot,Bill, the treatment works well with the subject, also the b/w.
Bill Phillips: Cheers Frank.

Great shot of it though. Oh my goodness Slim Dusty. I was never a country & western fan.
Bill Phillips: If Slim is an example of Australian c&w I'm not surprised grin

It is a mark on the name pf those who let a pub go derelict. The locals don't have a local anymore - shame on them.
Bill Phillips: Part of the problem here is that there aren't really any locals so you have to drive and drink driving laws are strict!
love the black/white effects
Bill Phillips: Thank you. I had to hold the camera up in the air as there is a big fence round the place!
It must have been a fine looking building in its day, Bill. I'm surprised it hasn't been renovated to condos or flats.
Bill Phillips: I think demolition is the most likely as it is quite a big site and they might build houses
It's a sad event that's happening everywhere. That's a great photo, Bill. The b&w gives it real meaning.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Pauline. It is an all to common sight The reality is people tend to drink at home buying at supermarket prices

Very atmospheric
Bill Phillips: Sadly so Anne
A sad scene - looks as though it would need a fair amount spent on it!
Bill Phillips: I suspect it is beyond repair Tom
This doesn't look like a photograph - did you paint it?
Bill Phillips: No it is a photograph. Well to be accurate it is 5 bracketed photographs which have been put through Photomatix Pro , Lightroom and Photoshop.
Very good image of a sad sight, it must have had a lot of character. A pub has just been knocked down in Shepshed by developers who have now failed in their bid for planning permission to build something else in its place, how can that happen?
Bill Phillips: I don't know if there are any plans for this place. I wouldn't be surprised to see it knocked don and replaced with houses......but then they won't have a local pub will they? grin
What a pity, but it allowed you to make such a nice picture!
Bill Phillips: It was too good to miss Richard
