Exeter 1 of some

Pity about the flare. I spent my childhood mainly in Exeter and I still have a great affection for the place. It is an histoic town with a fine cathedral.  I was once a probationary choirboy for the voluntary choir. Never quite good enough to make the grade but it was a great experience.

Wonderful HDR and I can see how your affection is still there. Especially to be part of the choir.
Bill Phillips: It is a nice city and I spent most of my childhood there. Hope you are having a great time in the old US of A.
A probationary choirboy sounds a little dodgy. smile
Bill Phillips: I had to wear an L plate Larry
i like the wide view of this scene Bill. nice rendering in HDR
Bill Phillips: Thanks verry much Ayush
the flare isn't a problem... the framing made up for it Bill....petersmile
Bill Phillips: You are too kind Peter grin

The flare is a phenomeon of the divine charisma this cathedral is streaming out in my feeling! In my memory it looks a bit bigger - but that is a question of perspective.
Bill Phillips: I never think of Exeter being one of the bigger cathedrals but it is a beautiful building

HDR? (Holy Divine Religiosity)- but your photo looks rather secular despite your memory as 'probationary choirboy'!
Bill Phillips: It reflects me then I guess Philine smile

Very nice, pity about the flare but it shows if HDR is used wisely it can be all to the common good. I have an HDR setting on my NEX-7 which I will attempt to get to grips with sometime
Bill Phillips: I have one on my camera but the results aren't up to much.Mind you with the way the technology moves three years on it is probably 100 times better than when I got my camera

A pleasantly soft effect, Bill
Bill Phillips: HDR doesn't have to be harsh like Shaw's picture of me....tonemapped I guess in Nix software

Lucky you to be on probation in Exeter Bill. A fine city with a fine Cathedral and a fine river and a fine football team and a fine weather.
Bill Phillips: I cannot disagree with a single word
I like the HDR! Plus the umbrellas add extra interest to the cathedral
Bill Phillips: Thanks Sarah. I think the umbrellas might be a fairly recent addition!
I like the soft feel to this shot Bill and those cobbles/stones. I've never stopped in Exeter, this is encouraging smile
Bill Phillips: It is a fine city and well worth a visit.

With all those umbrellas it must rain a lot there. (grin)
Bill Phillips: Exeter is the County Town of Devon and the old saying is

Come to Devon glorious Devon
Devon rains six days out of seven

That flare doubles up for a tower clock. But since you mentioned it, I was determined to find the flare.

An excellent picture. Looking at the tables, I think one can spend time as an adult here, as well.
Bill Phillips: There is a very good pub not 50 yards away

Yes, I like Exeter, too. I must dig out my photos of it at some point. I couldn't even pass my cycling proficiency test, never mind singing smile
Bill Phillips: I spent a happy childhood there. I wouldn't know anyone there now so I have no desire to live there but it is nice to visit now and then

... and no one sitting having an outdoor refreshment
Bill Phillips: It was a bit early
This looks a very civilised place to sit and enjoy ones coffee with a lovely cathedral in the back ground. We have never been to Exeter, perhaps it should be put on our list of places to go.
Bill Phillips: Worth a visit Brian. You would enjoy the cathedral
Amazing to see such a place empty Bill! Fine capture.
Bill Phillips: It was quite early grin
Always best to take a chance with flare, and it seems to have paid off here.

Since your visit with Mick Murphy, Bill, you have demonstrated many bad habits...you need to begin the Cure soon...
Bill Phillips: Shaw is a very bad man
