Welcome to Dawlish 3 of several

Looking towards Teignmouth which is just round the corner! Behind is the Railway station and the line runs right next to the beach here, through the distant cliff and onto Teignmouth. When I was a kid the sight of steam trains along here was a sight to see.

The retaining walls seem substantial, Bill...an attempt to thwart the Vikings?
Bill Phillips: Stops the railway falling into the sea at high tide Ray

Yes, a place of many memories for you! ( But, sorry, I had preferred a candid photo - the seascape is so beautiful, it doesn't need any twiddling. )
Bill Phillips: Yes many memories Philine. I can't help twiddling! I have been playing with HDR and having fun!

You're still a kid, Bill, and I bet it's still a sight to see. Wait till you take Joseph there!

And actually, I LOVE what you have done with this!
Bill Phillips: Most of the pictures recently and in the pipeline are HDR. Mostly 5 bracketed pictures. One or two look quite normal!

M and I are walking the South West Coast Path (in stages, as it is 600 miles long). This will be part of the next stage
Bill Phillips: Some great views to be had Lisl.
Wonderful image, beautiful placesmile Greetings
Bill Phillips: Thank you and greetings to you too. Have a good day
The walk along the seafront and railway is the best bit about Dawlish., as for the rest of it you go here to die.
Bill Phillips: No that's Budleigh Salterton!

I like the tracks on the beach. We used to pass through Dawlish on our way to Brixham for the occasional family holiday but never had the pleasure of seeing steam trains. I bet it gets exciting in the winter storms.
Bill Phillips: It gets very interesting!

The deep sky is a delight that tops this fine beach shot. After rain today we're heading back to sunshine and the mid twenties - beach weather.
Bill Phillips: This was last Friday and it was quite warm. It has been warm this week too but mainly cloudy
Looks like somebody has tried to put train lines on the beach, Bill. Lovely skies again.
Bill Phillips: Narrow gauge by the look of it Pauline grin
An inviting scene Bill! I'm sure I've visited Teignmouth, when staying in Torquay, many moons ago! smile
Bill Phillips: This is Dawlish, just round the corner is Teignmouth. It is a nice part of Devon
Send some of those clouds pls, I'm tired of this everlasting summer here...
Bill Phillips: We have 100% cloud here today JC....you are welcome to some of that!
Fine image bill. I have been along that line a few times, Mr.Brunel done a good job.
Bill Phillips: Better than his atmospheric railway Brian grin

Very effective tweeking and twiddling. The train journey must have been very scenic
Bill Phillips: It is regarded as one of the great stretches of line Anne
the sky and the clouds dominate here. i like the treatment
Bill Phillips: Thanks Ayush.
The steam train passengers sure had a wonderful scene to take in when passing through this area, Bill.
