Droitwich on a Sunday Morning 3

Of course all towns and cities have their less desirable bits and this forgotten part of the shopping precinct is the victim of a grandiose plan that never materialised. It was to have been demolished so the shops that were there were encouraged to leave as the leases were not renewed. They have remained empty ever since and what will happen to them in the long run I have no idea.

You are being very honest about your town, Bill
Bill Phillips: Even Droitwich isn't perfect Lisl.

Good to see that Droitwich constabulary are up to speed in case that guy strays down into the Southern half of England
Bill Phillips: It gives a measure of reassurance
Is that Mick Shaw?
Bill Phillips: No comment

I'm a bit worried about that wanted man on the poster. Is he the head of the West Midlands costra nostra by any chance?
Bill Phillips: Apparently he is a street photographer from the north

You might think up something for the space.
Bill Phillips: Skittle alley?
Barren but litter free. Good shot Bill
Bill Phillips: They must have been out early!
Our little town has at least as many shops as working ones, and even they struggle to keep going. I gather they main problems are the rents for the leases and the business rates, and we all know who sets them, and it ain't the local council!
Bill Phillips: Rents and rates are a problem as are exorbitant parking charges. But also the fact that half the time the shops don't have what you want but Amazon does!

The dimpled ceiling immediately dates this architectural style. I think landlords are too greedy with their rents and its best to have some money coming in from shops rather than nothing.
Bill Phillips: Doesn't it just! The high street as we know it is probably dead but doesn't realise it yet
A rather sad and neglected looking area, Bill, and that spooky looking fellow pictured in the wanted billboard doesn't help to make it look any more cheerful either.
Bill Phillips: That man is a legend Beverly
Yes I see him 24/7 .His wife Jeannie. Send help.
Bill Phillips: Jeannie you are a saint
Looks like a celeb hot shot pro to me, thanks Bill.
Bill Phillips: Indeed Mick. I am preparing Droitwich for your coming

It does all look rather bleak Bill
Bill Phillips: It is a shame but I can't see it being used for a long time
The best laid plans of mice and men. I've found the BBC's 'Unbuilt Britain' fascinating.
Bill Phillips: I haven't come across that. I'll see if it is on the BBC iPlayer
