photoblog image My Mother

My Mother

Scanned from an old slide, Helen in the pushchair and Kathryn a reluctant figure in the background. This was taken in the early 80s. My Mother died in 1990 and today would have been her 95th birthday

Good conversion from a slide, it looks like Kathryn wants to melt away rather than have her pic taken. smile
Bill Phillips: She has never been fond of having her picture taken

This is a keeper, Bill.
Bill Phillips: I bought a cheap slide scanner and scanned a lot of old slides. The quality ain't great but at least we can look at the pictures.
This is a wonderful warm tribute to your Mother Bill... i am sure that she is celebrating this special day with you....petersmile
Bill Phillips: She died in 1990, seems almost like a lifetime ago!
A wonderful way to remember your Mom, Bill
Bill Phillips: She died in 1990. It was a memorable year. She died in the February, I had my 40th birthday in the June and was made redundant in the October!

Mine would have been 95 this year too
Bill Phillips: Well I never. My mother died in 1990

A very dear, cute photo of your mother (she is dressed like my mother was: with camelhaircoat, hat..) and your daughters -like Kathryn I liked to be hiding behind the back of my Mutti as I met somebody - a shy girl.
My Mother has died last in the age of 96 years - how early did you lose your mother! Lovely that you commemorate her in this special way!
Bill Phillips: Kathryn has never been very fond of having her picture taken. My Mum died back in 1990.

Oh happy memories, I'm sure. She looks very smartly dressed and a marked contrast to those of today generally. My dear old mum is still with us and doing remarkably well for her age (93) although she thinks otherwise.
Bill Phillips: My mother died back in 1990. She was only 72 but had been a widow for 23 years.
Good old mum ... and yes my mother died when I was in my early 40's
Bill Phillips: Mum died a few months before my 410th birthday. One of the most poignant things was that she had go a 40th birthday card for me although she hadn't actually written it

We can never spare them, Bill
Bill Phillips: It all seems a long time ago now somehow. My dad died in 1967 and my mother in 1990
A lovely memory of her on her birthday Bill
Bill Phillips: Thanks Janet. It is amazing how the years have flown

She looks a lovely lady but then she was tested with bringing up young Billy. I'm sorry that she did not live longer for you comrade.
Bill Phillips: I was a model child
She looks like a proud grandma in this photo. Pictures are a wonderful way to stir the memory. It was just 15 years ago that I lost my mom. Some wounds are hard to heal.
Bill Phillips: That is very sad Mary. You are right. My dad died when I was 17 and I still think of him a lot. I wish digital photography had been around then so that I had more pictures
Nothing ever replaces your Mum, Bill, good to have photo's.
Bill Phillips: Indeed so Frank
what amazes me most is that slides/film rolls a quarter of century old survive and can generate decent pictures. i had a teacher guide me through the steps of fixing and developing film from his well maintained collection, a experience that left me suitably impressed
Bill Phillips: Back in the 60s I took pictures using Kodachrome 25 Film. The slides are as good now as when they were taken. It was a very slow slide film but the colour was superb. It was also quite expensive which limited how many pictures I could take!
Judging from the expression on her face as she looks down at Helen, she was a proud and loving grandmother. You've presented a beautiful tribute to your Mom on what would have been her 95th. birthday, Bill.
Bill Phillips: Thank you Beverly. A lot of what we are as people is due to the influence of our parents
A fine shot to remember your Mum by Bill. My Mum would have been 105 about 3 weeks ago and my dad 106, he was 51 weeks older than my Mum.
Bill Phillips: My dad would have been 100 last year. Sadly he only made 55!
Well - the genes continue, Bill. Nice group portrait.
Bill Phillips: They do indeed Tom.
A precious image to keep Bill!
Bill Phillips: These are the most important pictures we have Richard
rather charming Bill
A lovely memory to share.
Bill Phillips: Thank you Jacquelyn
