This is Droitwich

Taken from the lane near where I live. There is a planning application to build a load of houses up here along with a nursing home and various other bits and pieces. Access will be a nightmare during and after and if the proposed development of Salwarpe village goes ahead as well I doubt if people will get in or out of the place during peak times as the roads won't take the extra traffic.

This is a beautiful place Bill... with such a nice view i would be a shame to see a housing development built in this nice open field....petersmile
Bill Phillips: It would be a shame and totally unnecessary
BTW... this is a wonderful panorama Bill....petersmile
Bill Phillips: Thanks Peter smile
Great photo Bill - it'll be a shame if the application is approved.
Bill Phillips: True but it probably will be despite my protest song!

This is a very good panorama indeed Bill, I particularly love the way you have photoshopped out the rain and inserted a blue sky one.
Bill Phillips: No point in having the software if you don't use it....as the actress said...
A fantastic panorama Bill, I'm sure your petitioning against this development.
Bill Phillips: I wrote a protest song which is on you tube

We have a similar situation near where we live. The ex MOD complex, one of three in Bath, is to be turned into housing.

Nice sky
Bill Phillips: At least that isn't a greenfield site, but Bath is congested enough already I would have thought

Great image it would be a shame to lose the open space
Bill Phillips: It would be a shame but I suspect it is going to happen

Sigh. And they call that progress. In the meantime, Bill, do enjoy your splendid view.
Bill Phillips: If there was the infrastructure to cope then it would be OK, although I think the town is big enough now. Why the need to build on greenfield sites is beyond me when there is plenty of derelict land about
''A saucer full of Secrets'' ...or should that be a ' A saucerfull of little boxes all the same'.
Bill Phillips: Plenty of boxes. most built over the last 40 years

Yes, Droitwich must be such a popular town because of the sausages, the salt, dear persons like, its media presence on i-net, on photoblogs ... that it looks here totally overcrowded - for all the people want to live just there!
A nursing home is needed considering our society getting older and older ...
Bill Phillips: We have several nursing homes around here. Most of Droitwich has been built sine the 1970s. before that it was a very small town
They are getting your nursing home ready for you , stop moaning and get your spade out and give them a hand.
Bill Phillips: You know what they say Mick. Be nice to your children because they will be the ones choosing your nursing home!
Applications are always sexed up with socially acceptable items such as this and other items. The real motive as ever being £££s.
Bill Phillips: It is a fiasco in the making but that won't stop them
Great panorama Bill. I expect there are a lot of objections to the building proposals
Bill Phillips: There are but as part of a larger authority Droitwich will be outvoted

Sorry to hear it Bill - we have swelled in population without any infrastructure to cope. Time for that cottage in Exmouth?
Bill Phillips: Over the years we have lived in Droitwich it has grown enormously but these developments will take it beyond the ability of the infrastructure, schools roads etc. Mind you Exmouth has grown since I was a kid, although the seafront is almost unchanged
Un panorama splendide, suis fan !
Bill Phillips: Merci mon ami!

I can just imagine the chaos, Bill. Good that you have taken such a sweeping landscape in time
Bill Phillips: When it will all happen, assuming it does, I don't know. It will be a pain in the butt when it does though

Such a shame. Houses are built in unsuitable places with no regard for the infrastructure or the impact on others. There are too many people in this country trying to cope with infrastructure designed for the 1950s; we need to get rid of millions of people - send 'em back!
Bill Phillips: Strewth Alan. There are about a million empty properties in the UK so there is plenty of room really
Love that sky Bill! It looks pretty busy down there, but at least you have some green area now.
Bill Phillips: Typical mixture of modern housing. Not much imagination but overall it is not a bad place to live!
I will say "snap!" because the same is happening on beautiful areas of Shepshed at the moment. The Charnwood Borough Council have decided we are going to have most of the new homes they need to build under Government rules, 26,000 I believe, and "b**g*r" we people who live here and all the beautiful, and useful farm land around the outskirts!
Bill Phillips: There are about 1 million homes lying empty and yet they want to build on greenfield sites. Madness
It would be a shame to obstruct such a wonderful panorama Bill!
Bill Phillips: It would indeed Richard smile
Yeah, I can't understand it, either. Empty houses, derelict land... Green field is easier, I guess.
You'll have to move to some non-fictional location, Bill - anything can happen in fantasy towns smile
