It looks a superb venue Bill.

This is a fine presentation Bill.
Bill Phillips: I am obliged to you. You were there when I took this
The hall is empty but i can feel the music through this fine shot Bill....petersmile
Bill Phillips: This was during the day. We were allowed to go inside and have a look. We have been to concerts and it is magnificent Peter.
The place seems immense!
Bill Phillips: It seats 2250 or so and you can see and hear well anywhere in the auditorium.

Oh, I can imagine - and even an organ is there - what did you listen to? I assume you photographed this hall during a pause.
Bill Phillips: This was actually taken when I met up with Chad and Chris and Ingrid in Birmingham. The last thing we went to here was to see the restored Original Dracula film with Bela Lugosi. Philip Glass had written a new score and he was performing it live as the film was shown. It was a great evening.

I agree. It's a fabulous place. The Town Hall is supposed to good, too, but I've yet to go there.
Bill Phillips: Ange and I went to the town hall many years ago to both classical and rock concerts. I remember seeing Procul Harum there and we were nearly blasted out of our seats!
Listening to John Cages 4 minutes 33 seconds of silence no doubt.
Bill Phillips: Very witty Mr Trim

No doubt you took this all those years ago with Anniedog?

Keep digging!
Bill Phillips: Certainly did.

Is Chris suggesting that you took this before we had colour photography, Bill?
Bill Phillips: He has too much time on his hands so he can go out taking loads of pictures every day. so is having a dig that I am showing pictures I took some time ago grin
It feels so Bill.
Bill Phillips: It is a superb venue Juan Carlos and Birmingham is rightly proud of it.
You arrived rather early Bill smile Attractive shot of a rather fine concert hall.
Bill Phillips: Haha We did indeed but we were only there to have a look!
I'm sure they are, it looks very impressive! Great shot Bill smile
Bill Phillips: Thanks Martin. It is a great asset for Birmingham

I assume that the famous Leipzig Gewandhausorchestra under the guidance of Kurt Masur played there , too - Birmingham and Leipzig are twin towns!
Bill Phillips: Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra: Rachmaninov Symphony No 2
Part of Birmingham International Concert Season 2012/13… more events…

Thursday 25 October 2012

The Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, under its distinguished conductor Riccardo Chailly, is one of the world’s very greatest orchestras. They visit Birmingham riding high on the critical accolades from recent performances in London, Paris and Vienna. Acclaimed cellist Lynn Harrell is the soloist in Shostakovich’s Second Cello Concerto, and the centrepiece of the evening is Rachmaninov’s heart-felt Second Symphony, an outpouring of passionate emotion into an inexhaustible stream of gorgeous melody.

I am sure they have been before as well

A good picture of a fine concert hall Bill. Many years ago I organised a trip for the Loughborough Male Voice Choir I as in at the time to go here for a massed Welsh Male Voice Choir Concert, my word what an evening.
Bill Phillips: It is a wonderful venue and ideal for a concert like that

It looks a wonderful place to listen to an orchestra
Bill Phillips: It is Anne. I wish we went more often but it is expensive!
Wow, this is superb Bill!
Bill Phillips: It is a great place Richard
I can testify to that, Bill - I've only been once, to see the Los Angeles Symphony Orchestra and Yo Yo Ma - it was absolutely stunning. They'd played the same programme in the Proms that year and the contrast was astonishing. At the end, the musicians were standing and had big grins all over their faces - they knew they'd heard something special themselves.
Bill Phillips: The sound quality is amazing and the acoustics can be adjusted to suit the type of music being played apparently
Eh?...What?..
Bill Phillips: You'll have to speak up

I have never attended a performance there!

How sad is that when I live less than an hour away...

Lovely photo representation wink
Bill Phillips: Try and go Cherry. It is a fantastic venue
