Stepping back in time, wonderful Bill
Bill Phillips: It is like that at the Black country museum. Well worth a visit if you haven't been

Oh, yes, many black- faced sheep -with soem white patches - an interesting photo - and place!
Bill Phillips: The black country museum is a very interesting place to visit Philine
maybe you lose some details in the shadows, but it is a great photo. carefree appearance of people gives it a very relaxed and the treatment of black and white favors him a lot. bravo.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Memoria. The loss of detail was deliberate I wanted just the white highlights and deep shadow
Good one Bill. A touch of sepia would have been interesting ( as they say).
Bill Phillips: Hmmmmm maybe

A fascinating place. It's good that such a museum like exists so that we could see "edited highlights" from the old days. I like the patterned pavement. I would like to have seen more detail in your shadows.
Bill Phillips: I refer you to my replies to Frank and Blackdog
You need to dodge the houses ..
Bill Phillips: See my replies to Mike and Frank

You really are recycling stuff aren't you!!
Bill Phillips: Shamelessly
So dark - not exactly inviting.
Bill Phillips: You don't want to come over to the dark side then Sheila??

I can almost smell the Hovis coming up the hill!

Mr Shaw is right to a degree - I would have done a graduated dodge on the houses just to get some detail in shadows of the first house.
Bill Phillips: I made it darker deliberately but you Mick and Frank all want detail in the houses which I got rid of grin

...before they installed the crowd-control barriers!
Bill Phillips: Before they let the rabble in
Nice shot Bill!
Bill Phillips: Thanks Martin
I like the composition, Bill, but would like some detail in the houses.
Bill Phillips: Oh well fair enough. I wanted the increasing darkness with just the white details but nobody seems very impressed grin

A very fine compo mate but the contrast looks over egged. The Ms are spot on.
Bill Phillips: Fair enough. I just wanted to be on the dark side
Bearing in mind your comments last week about my HDR twiddles being a bit on "near the edge" I feel obliged to go along with Messrs.Mike, Frank and Michael re dodging the shadows, other than that I actually like the picture, reminds me of a good day out in 2011.
Bill Phillips: This one was taken in about 2008 I think (without looking it up) Seems I am in the minority on this picture as I liked the dark grin
Forgot my lighter, I should be right back!
Bill Phillips: I'll lend you a torch grin
Trouble at mill lad? Bring on the black stuff Bill.
Bill Phillips: Aye lad. They didn't call it the Black country for nothing
Very nice light/shadow play Bill!
Bill Phillips: Thank you very much Richard
Positively 19th century!
Bill Phillips: There is now a 1930's part as well
Looks OK to me, but what do I know!
Bill Phillips: As much as I do Graeme, which probably isn't a lot gringringrin
