From my point of view it isn't dark at all. Indeed you appear to be straddling the delicate line twixt b&w & colour. If I thought you knew what you were doing I'd congratulate you more...
Bill Phillips: Bloomin' cheek!! A lot of work went into this picture

It may come as no surprise but I'm one of those! It suits the sky, however, but I would like to see more detail in the structure of the pier and its landward end.
Bill Phillips: Well at least you are seeing it as intended grin

At first I saw the bright, clearing up sky - wonderful - then the silhouette of the pier - wonderful - and then the like black tar looking beach I would not like to be stuck in or with! In general a beautiful photo - a bit blackdoggish!
Bill Phillips: but there are some colour pixels in there too Philine smile
Some of your pics have been a lot darker Bill,I can live with this one.
Bill Phillips: The reason i asked was I was looking at my pictures on Kathryn's newly acquired Tablet and they look a lot darker on that than on my screen.
I like this strange shot with the coloured top.
Bill Phillips: The whole picture is colour Mary....but only justgrin
I find it a delight Bill, including the pirate's flag!
Bill Phillips: It does look like a pirate flag!

Winter dusk silhouetting wonderful ink black seaweed blanketed beaches and delightful iron work structures.

Does that answer you question Bill.

No thoughts on the flag though.
Bill Phillips: Yes............. There was a reason for asink as I have indicated in my reply to Mr Shaw

just right I'd say
Bill Phillips: That's good enough for me Paul
It's dark, Bill, but not as we know it, I like it,just enough detail.
Bill Phillips: Thanks Frank. My reply to Mr Shaw will explain why I asked the question
A bit of shadow does add drama Bill. I like it
Bill Phillips: Thanks Janet. It is a great Pier

I like its tones Bill, another great Clevedon picture
Bill Phillips: I love the pier it is a gem
I actually quite like it Bill, especially having been to Clevedon, the light in the sky is great. It's funny how a picture never looks the same on two different devices, at the Club we have a £1000+ laptop and £2500+ projector, thanks to the Lottery fund, and even though both have been fully optimised the image still looks different when projected than it does on the laptop.
Bill Phillips: Kathryn had one of these tablet things with an HD screen for Christmas and the pictures look much darker on it.
Well it is very dark, Bill, speaking of the the lack of light, but not so dark as to lose detail. I really like it, I think it's a little moody, and very lovely.
Bill Phillips: Thank you Elizabeth. It is a wonderful pier and I'm pleased you find it moody.
This pier is superb Bill! I like the tones.
Bill Phillips: Thank you Richard
Depends on how I tilt the screen. Personally I like these darkish shots with just a hint of colour. I've just put one on for tomorrow, try that on the tablet.
Bill Phillips: I'll borrow it off Kathryn
If the old knees weren't somewhat creaky I think I'd have bent them a bit to get the end of the pier into the sky but it is a very atmospheric image as it is.
Bill Phillips: I was actually quite high up but I can see what you mean.I get down OK, it is the getting up I find difficult grin
It's dark, but not unreasonably so...
Bill Phillips: Thanks Larry.
